I believe the Treaty of Rome (1957) says that a pan-European super-state is the ultimate goal. Back in the late 1950s or early '60s, Harold Macmillan told Charles de Gaulle that if the British voters knew what the intention really was, they'd never want to know.

Exactly. The European Union doesn't exist anymore how it was supposed to be. Now its one nation forcing all other nations to do what it wants. Every Eu partners should be free to handle stuff as they want. Some countries in Europe are forced to take in migrants while others outright refuse and get punished for it. We don't want some country up north to dictate what countries in the south need to do.

Didn't most EU countries, following our vote to leave, condemn us as xenophobic little Englanders, without friends, Intent on isolating ourselves. And why?, because we wanted a return of National sovereignty, including determining who might enter our country. Now obviously our own leaders have denied us the Brexit we voted for, while refusing to police our borders. Nevertheless, it does appear that a number of European nations have become increasingly fed up with the diktats coming from the Brussels bureaucrats, and hey presto, they finally understand the British position. I think you might call this an 'I told you so' moment.
