Sweden NH90 Anti-Submarine Warfare training

Specialized naval helicopter with underwater sonar system, tactical radar and high cabin, the NH90 ASW is specially tailored for its maritime missions and the operative environment in the Baltic Sea, this helicopter is best-suited for the customer’s requirements.
In total, Sweden will have 9 NH90 in ASW configuration and 9 in SAR (Search and Rescue) configuration.

The helicopter is supposed to hover above the submarines last known position and send down these sonar booies to track down the sub. After they figure out where the sub is they hover over it and drop toxic chargers right onto of it. The bombs weren't ment to have direct contact with the sub they are supposed to detonate close to the hull of the sub to implode it form the inside. Hope that helps clarify things I'm doing this job for the US NAVY at the moment.

Read the book "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy. A large part of it describes Anti-Submarine warfare and is very detailed and interesting. Afterwards you know exactly what's happening here

I see there is no soundproofing in the cabin and the cockpit, the Dutch have soundproofing in their NH-90 to protect the hearing of the crew for the noise pollution and vibrations of the panels.

Strange, our RNZN or RNZAF have reported no such issues with our NH 90 TTH when operating them off HMNZS Canterbury...

In Greece we got 20 NH90 and yet 7 new MH60R too as anti-submarine. I guess our NH90 are not anti-sub version.

the NH90 is kind of a pain in the ass to maintain so some NATO members have been switching to MH-60 derivatives instead due to significantly cheaper maintenance and greater reliability

With the extra size accomodating upmto 18 soldiers, id say adding a few torpedoes of navy strike missiles would be a picnic, seeing RNZAF does already with a helicopter half its size , the SH2 Seasprite.

My understanding is that they still are hideously expensive to run, offer lower availability and spares are still an ongoing issue compared to the competition whilst still being more advanced and easier to fly.
