@@AmerBoyo no, its not an improvment because it uses more energy in a grid that have not coal and gas, so the CO2 is as an effect hgiher. Its also unrrsonably expensive, not only that, it also drives up the cost of Electric power.

@@matsv201 isnt that how all mayor industries develop, inefficient at first but getting cheaper the more the industry and infastructure around it develops? also since a lot of costs like polution, damage to human health and emissions are externalized (as in the producers/facturies dont have to pay for them society does) its not that simple of a calculation in cost.

Some people don't seem to realize what a great project this will be for EU 1) No need to import any coal from outside EU 2) Electricity needed can be produced inside the EU with renewables 3) The money used to buy coal from abroad stays inside the EU 4) Whilst a bit more expensive than dirty Chinese poor quality steel, the whole purchase amount for the EU made steel stays inside the EU. We are talking about billions of euros of capital injection into EU economies. 5) In this new geopolitical climate, it is significantly important to retain domestic steel production that is not at the whims of any potentially hostile nation outside the EU

That whole mill was and is created by the very thing they are arguing against. Even the reporter reporting misses the fact that EVERYTHING indirectly and directly comes from the production of steel. It's not about paying a little bit more for a car, it will mean paying HUGE sums for everything. They also kindly omitted the amount of steel they produce each year as well. I'm currently a steelworker for the past 24yrs. There was a lot not spoken about in this video...conveniently
