@@6XCcustom Ukraine orders anything it can get financed. CV90 is slightly cheaper and more mass producable than Lynx or Puma, wich is why it is more optimal for Ukraine. Archer on the other hand seems to be a swedish unicorn solution. The YS military has an old fleet of armored vehicles and a super large budget, much of which sucked into maintaining old equipment. I never could understand why the US plays around when it could be acquiring systems like this. Take the Marines for example. They won’t get upgraded LAVs nor will they replace the long outdated and under armored/ underperforming AAV with something like a cv90. The army could replace the Bradley with these and the striker with an LAV3.

Its a great IFV likely the even better than the Bradley, BAE Systems AB need to make a crewless turret and hybid drive with possible autonomous modes for the upcoming MkV and keep its lead ahead of the pack that follows. Also for a IFV the gunner in the turret is likely advantageous, so maybe not crewless.
@cathulhu-q7y2 ай бұрын
CV90 is not ahead of the pack, it follows Puma and Lynx and other current generation systems. CV90 is "just" a late cold war ifv that has been modernised.
@rolyantrauts23042 ай бұрын
@@cathulhu-q7y It is ahead of the pack as it was produced from 1993 onwards, Cold War ended 1991 whilst Rhienmetal have only just replaced thier very much cold war IFV the Marder I that was produced from 1969 and it has took the Puma was 2009 and is currently replacing the Marder. The CV90 from 1st release to its various models has consistantly fielded innovation firsts and was ten years ahead of the Puma. From its design pholosphy CV90 was also built for high reliability and ease of maintenance using only standard onboard tools and for conscripts to maintain and on release was the 1st to offer true firepower with its 40mm autocannon. Since the they have been constantly innovating to the current MKIV with augmented reality system named iFighting. The iFighting concept fuses data from different systems within the vehicle to filter and prioritize the most critical information, allowing quicker crew decision-making and improved battlefield performance. The 2018 Mk IV generation is also the first Western IFV with a qualified Active Protection System. It is equipped with fourth generation electronic architecture. The Bundeswehr has approximately 262 active service Marder 1A3 and will will remain in service until at least 2025, whilst the CV90 MKV where it is already in development and this is the kicker for Puma which is generally considered over expensive and complex and why the Bundeswher rollout has been so slow. Its down to timing of the general bloat and weight of the IFV where the MkIV has grown to 35 to 37 tonnes and much more than the original MKI 23 and 35 tonnes , whilst the Puma and Lynx design weight is a much heavier 30 to 45 tonnes. This timing of the CV90 and experience in Ukraine has turned out to be very advantageous with the MKV currently in development where in 2027 we could be seeing a reduction in the weight back nearer to orig design weight and a hybrid drive system and its release schedule has landed near perfect to changing technology and battlefield mantra.

@@cathulhu-q7y newer does not mean better
@cathulhu-q7yАй бұрын
@@hotdog9262 yes, in this case newer means better. Puma has comparable or better off-road mobility to a cv90 while having much more armor protection all round. It comes with integrated data links for the vehicle and the dismount. What the dismounted infantry sees (with their helmet cameras, drones etc), the puma crew can also see (and engage), plus it connects to the higher levels of the battlefield management and allows the dismount to order artillery or air strikes via a tablet. It's sensors are much more advanced, it's fire control is better, it's armament is equal or better (due to more ammunition carried and ready, meaning longer sustained combat). In the end it's like comparing a late 4.5th generation fighter like Gripen or Ef2000 to a full blood 5th Gen fighter like F22
