It must have originally been built to handle Scania mud, and other clay soil areas in Sweden. I think that's why it does OK in mud now too. I hope you get better stuff from us soon. They are ugly (looks like old soviet armor :) but supposedly handle mud, marshes, and snow pretty well. And amphibious which would help crossing rivers which intersect Ukraine a lot... just be careful - don't use them to storm over mines with!

They can still do a decent job as troop transports. They are at least better armoured than pickup trucks. I wish we had more of the good stuff to send, such as CV90's. But we don't, unfortunately.

Но ведь это БТР - транспортер для перевозки пехоты , а не БМП - боевая машина пехоты. Задача БТР - перевозка личного состава, а не участие в непосредственных боях.

Это машинка прошлого века. тут нет современных наворотов - управления, ведения огня. Тут даже управление на рычагах. Но по виду все надежное. Как рабочий мул для транспортировки бойцов годится, и пушка прикрытия огнем покруче чем у М113.

Wrong. Its an upgraded M113 that can swim, is better at driving in mud, and got a slightly better frontal armor. But I would not recommed any aggressive use of this vehicle as if it was an infantry fighting vehicle. This is nothing anything close to CV90 in protection and firepower. Some people say that its cannon is so great. At least many Swedes do. But I am not so sure if the Ukrainians would prefer it over the Machine gun on M113. I guess we will quickly find out what Ukrainians like the most and prefer. I do not get any hurt feelings regardless what Ukraine choose. And if vehicles are destroyed and lost then so be it. Its war after all. And if Ukrainians soldiers are allowed to live another day and keep on fighting thanks to these vehicles then I think they have done their job, even if every single one of them ended up as burning wrecks before this war is over. This vehicle was built in the 1960s to defend Sweden during a Soviet invasion. Its the same M113 that USA used in Vietnam but slightly changed to suit Swedens terrain with mud and snow, and Swedens doctrine with hatches for the infantry. So one should not have too high expectations on this relic. Sweden never expected itself to be the target for russias entire military might, but instead did Sweden expect russia to more be interested in fighting in Germany and such, while the invasion of Sweden would be of a less military importance to them. So this military thinking led to this vehicle. It was good for the 1960s, but perhaps a little bit unmodern a few decades later. But then it should be remembered that Sweden used horses up until the 1960s, and much of the infantry used bicycles that was drawn behind tractors, and old junk like Terrängbil m/42 KP remained in service until 2004, while PBV301 built on a Pz38t chassi were in use until 1971. So compared to all those alternatives was the vehicle in this video a much better alternative if you wanted a vehicle that could offer protection against bullets and grenade fragments.

There is plenty of 20mm ammo all around the world as this auto cannon was very common both in airplanes, aa guns, apc and other vehicles, some swiss m113 even had the same turret and cannon. Some models of pbv 302 can be fitted with a secondary machine gun Ksp58 7.62mm (FN MAG).

Its better than the garbage russia use - scooby doo vans, golfcarts and motorcycles. These vehicles are good and useful. Sweden kept them in service til 2014, when it replaced them with CV90. Not because these vehicles are bad but because CV90 is better. And with so much surplus equipment available here and now, was Ukraine grateful for taking those vehicles. Those vehiicles are excellent for evacuating wounded soldiers and working as ambulances - a concept unknown of among orcs.

AFAIK Sweden is building a CV90 factory in Ukraine. That will be much better. In the meantime we are sending everything we have, even if it's old.

@@KentiBear8 M109 Paladin, MILAN, FH70 and SAMP/T air defense system has been given to Ukraine by Italy. Italy could have done much more for Ukraine. But I am surprised that it have done anything at all the last 3 years. Benito Berlosconi was a big personal friend of Putin. And Salvini and Meloni used to have some cozy feelings towards russia before the war, but have thankfully changed their tone a lot and now stand behind Ukraine. However the majority of the Italian people do not support Ukraine and think this war is not affacting them. They worry more about immigration and the economy after the Eurocrisis. Its of course an incorrect and dumb way of viewing things. However I think that we non-italians must have realistic expectations on Italy. Its great that we do have Meloni on our side at all, and that we do not just have another annoying Fico or Orban ruling there. If I was an Italian, however I would feel shame for my country not doing more for Ukraine. Yes Italys economy is not in a great shape, but its still one of the largest economies in the world. And Italys military could need some modernization. If the government has shown no sign of ever wanting to modernize its C1 Ariete tanks so they could be competative on a modern battlefield, then I think Italy should just give all their tanks away to Ukraine and buy Leopard2A8 instead. If you have tanks that have not undergone a single upgrade and improvement of its armor since 1990. Then one could just give them away. And that would be the most powerful military package Ukraine has ever been given. Sure would these tanks be inferior to Challanger 2 and Stridsvagn 122 given to Ukraine. But they would still be a hell of a lot better than their T-72 tanks, their Leopard1 and T-55S. Ukraine would then just get a large force of modern main tanks. The crappiest MBT in Nato, but still its a modern unupgraded MBT. UKraine could pay for some armor upgrades and send it to the frontline to fight russian museum piece tanks.
