In 1968 we spent the summer in Scandinavia . My father wanted to drive up to Norway to see the midnight sun. For us kids, the highlight of the summer was visiting Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen. We drove up through much of Sweden and crossed over to Finland by ferry, then drove all the way up to Hammerfest Norway where we experienced daylight all day. We kids slept in the car, so my mom had to put up make shift curtains on the windows, so we could sleep. Norway was such a beautiful country with fjords and mountains. We drove down the whole coast to Oslo, then back down to Copenhagen to enjoy Tivoli Gardens again. Our long drive was far from over. It was back to Istanbul Turkey, where my father was teaching English.

I have been studying the infrastructure of Nordic and other Germanic countries and also learning the languages, so I am learning Dutch and Swedish and Norwegian etc (and the other Germanic languages and Celtic languages and most Latin languages etc) and one thing I noticed watching this video and the other ones is, that my Dutch got so good now, that I can even tell when someone from the Netherlands pronounces certain words and town names etc as in Dutch - it’s usually in English words like plan / flat / back / relaxed etc and in town names ending in -berg or city names starting with a G etc! I noticed that countries such as Sweden / Denmark / Norway and The Netherlands / Belgium / Germany and Iceland / Faroe Islands etc are very clean and have a lot of forest / field / green areas, and way prettier buildings compared to most other countries, and are very quiet countries, so I want to move there as soon as possible! I am trying to reach a high level of fluency in these languages that are spoken in these countries as soon as possible, to be very well prepared, and also because these languages are on top of my pretty languages I want to learn and improve list!

Dear Noraly, my admiration for you is even greater after watching the free episode of the documentary "Long Way Up" where Ewan McGregor and a friend took the same South America's route you took but just up to California (not Alaska). They have got two special HD electric motocycles prepared just for this trip. The amount of preparation and besides all, the great number of people taking part of their team is surprising. And there you are, all by yourself (and for now Ronin) venturing all sorts of terrains and places. It is admirable. Many thumbs up for you are amazing. I'll keep following your vlog. Good luck and have fun. Raquel (from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Hi :) I'm one of your new subscribers. I'm a Danish woman at 61. (I'm born in Copenhagen, but now i live near the sea on the east coast in the northern part of Denmark.) I have had that privilege to be an employed in Mærsk Line when i was younger. And i was lucky to be traveling to plenty of countries in the world. I will never forget that. :) I was recommended to watch your videos by KZbin, maybe because I already follow a young English couple who also drive around and experience other countries in their motorhomes "Next stop Everywhere". :) The first of your videos i saw was when you were i Denmark before you went to Iceland. I'll watch your videos until i'll be up to date, and i'll then start back from you first videos on this channel, and still watch every time a new video is uploaded. I adore you work, and your courage to take the traveling all by yourself. :) I wish i was much younger to do that myself. :) Around 5:30 in your video you did show an old building.... it's "Børsen" The old stock market. :) And just after that you were in Nyhavn.... :) There are so many places i would recommend you to see in Denmark, but i'm sure of you will come back to Denmark again soon :)

If you visit Scotland on your travels you will be blown away by all the standing stones and circles. I love your enthusiasm for the building in Denmark, the juxtaposition of old and new. A little more history: Malmö is located in the province of Scania (Skåne in Swedish and Danish) which used to belong to Denmark. Skåneland (a historical term for the four provinces of Scania, Halland, Blekinge and today the Danish island of Bornholm) was a part of Denmark longer than it has been a part of Sweden (800 years with Denmark, 362 years with Sweden, of course with the exception of Bornholm which still belongs to Denmark,). Still today, Scania has a lot in common with Denmark than the rest of Sweden. Btw our province is the only province in Sweden with a regional official flag, official since 1999. Our flag is like the flag of Denmark but with a yellow cross instead of white.
