I am more and more convinced that any government official is corrupt, from any country, if they are pursuing/imprisoning/punishing Julian Assange. Julian Assange should be freed and all charges against him completely dropped in all jurisdictions. Chelsea Manning should also be freed and given an apology for being prosecuted for doing nothing more than helping to increase government transparency. Government should err on the side of freedom, and this isn't it.

Bradley Manning is a different case. He objectively violated the oath he took and damaged national security however you look at it. If he did it on principle, ok, fine: but he cannot claim to have done so out of ignorance or lacking mens rea. Honestly, he should still be in prison. Got a free sex change out of it. But the chain of culpability starts and stops with him; once that information was given to the press, whoever that was, and published, the government has no recourse against the publisher. Period. Of course, words on a piece of paper are a poor shield against men wielding guns and self-righteous justifications for using them. 🤷‍♂️

@@brianmurphy6480 The term "national security" in this context is completely meaningless. There is absolutely no need to secure the secrets held by those running government. When government actors keep secrets from the governed, freedom doesn't exist. The freedom of the press is protected by the Constitution. "National security" in this context (the protection of government secrets) is not protected in any moral context. Government secrets is root the cause of all the corruption and malice in government.

CORRECTION: All government officials are corrupt, parasites who produce no value and use lies, theft and violence to achieve their "interests."

@@jnjnelson he did leak some info which weren't relevant to the needed leak. Basically agent's names and positions etc... Meaning they all would be murdered due to leak.

@@Tespri He warned the US through his lawyer that a former employee would release that info. He also warned that if the US government allowed that person to publish that info then he would also publish it.

Definitely the darkest episode of "How I Met Your Mother". Julian deserves some actual justice, not the kind dished out in the Australian outback.

Clearly a honey trap where the women involved were also victims.

As A Swede I remeber reading about it (and scouting the websites that tells some more of the truths) Assange went with 2 women to have A 3-some. The ladies later was knowed as leftists/green activist.

I apologize, I'm not trying to make this about me. I'm leaving a trail of breadcrumbs so that if I do survive this.. I remember when this story hit and I just felt like there was no way that this wasn't some kind of setup and it would psychologically affect me going forward. I'd sensed that I'd been under some kind of stalking program for a while and I was right. They perpetrated some nasty s*** in their courts and the goal was to either eliminate me or do things to me to cause a credibility gap. Trust me, governments are f****** evil and in my case it was simply that they wanted to steal some money. How about 3/4 of a million dollars. Anyway the concept of organized stalking harassment is real but they spend a lot of money on the disinformation and if you study intelligence agencies this is a normal modus operandi. It's actually crucial to these things done unraveling before their goals are accomplished.

Of course it was! A woman unknown except to the Swedish Polis, and Courts claimed he raped her. He skipped bail, and managed to evade being returned to answer in court. Due to the Swedish Statute of Limitation law he never faced his accuser or trial. If that had been any other man accused of rape you would be insisting he face trial. One rule for Assange and one rule for everyone else? He was ordered to leave the Ecuadorian Embassy in London because of his very abusive behaviour towards female staff!

Incorrect. President Trump tried to murder Assange and thankfully he failed. Trump despises truth speakers. Trump aided and abetted the very same deep state he claimed to despise, when he tried to murder Julian Assange! It's hilarious that Trump is now being targeted by the same deep state he served and protected when he was in office. 😂
