Country Comparison of Sweden, Denmark, Norway & Finland:
On the basis of Area, Economy, Military, Government, Culture, Population, Gender Ratio, Literacy Rate, Export, Import, Tourism, Olympics Medals, etc.
Sweden:
Sweden officially the Kingdom of Sweden is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It borders Norway to the west and north, Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund. At 450,295 square kilometers (173,860 sq mi), Sweden is the largest country in Northern Europe, the third-largest country in the European Union, and the fifth largest country in Europe. The capital and largest city is Stockholm. Sweden has a total population of 10.4 million, the largest of the Nordic countries; and a low population density of 25.5 inhabitants per square kilometers (66/sq mi). 87% of Swedes live in urban areas, which cover 1.5% of the entire land area. The highest concentration is in the central and southern half of the country.
Denmark:
Denmark is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It is the most populous and politically central constituent of the Kingdom of Denmark, a constitutionally unitary state that includes the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland in the North Atlantic Ocean. European Denmark is the southernmost of the Scandinavian countries, lying southwest of Sweden, south of Norway, and north of Germany. Spanning a total area of 42,943 km2, it consists of the peninsula of Jutland and an archipelago of 443 named islands, of which the largest are Zealand, Funen and the North Jutlandic Island. Denmark's geography is characterized by flat, arable land, sandy coasts, low elevation, and a temperate climate. As of 2022, it had a population of 5.88 million (1 March 2022), of which 800,000 live in the capital and largest city, Copenhagen. Denmark exercises hegemonic influence in the Danish Realm, devolving powers to handle internal affairs. Home rule was established in the Faroe Islands in 1948 and in Greenland in 1979; the latter obtained further autonomy in 2009.
Norway:
Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, the mainland territory of which comprises the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. The remote Arctic island of Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard also form part of Norway. Bouvet Island, located in the Subantarctic, is a dependency of Norway; it also lays claims to the Antarctic territories of Peter I Island and Queen Maud Land. The capital and largest city in Norway is Oslo. Norway has a total area of 385,207 square kilometers and had a population of 5,425,270 in January 2022. The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden at a length of 1,619 km. It is bordered by Finland and Russia to the northeast and the Skagerrak strait to the south, on the other side of which are Denmark and the United Kingdom. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea.
Finland:
Finland, officially the Republic of Finland. Finland is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It shares land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland across Estonia to the south. Finland covers an area of 338,455 square kilometers with a population of 5.5 million. Helsinki is the capital and largest city, forming a larger metropolitan area with the neighbouring cities of Espoo, Kauniainen, and Vantaa. The vast majority of the population are ethnic Finns; Finnish, alongside Swedish, are the official languages. Finland was first inhabited around 9000 BC after the Last Glacial Period. The Stone Age introduced several different ceramic styles and cultures. The Bronze Age and Iron Age were characterized by extensive contacts with other cultures in Fennoscandia and the Baltic region. From the late 13th century, Finland gradually became an integral part of Sweden as a consequence of the Northern Crusades. In 1809, as a result of the Finnish War, Finland became part of the Russian Empire as the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland, during which Finnish art flourished and the idea of independence began to take hold. In 1906, Finland became the first European state to grant universal suffrage, and the first in the world to give all adult citizens the right to run for public office. Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia, tried to russify Finland and terminate its political autonomy, but after the 1917 Russian Revolution, Finland declared independence from Russia.

there are some inconsistences for sure. the national day is 17 may, like most people have already pointed out. but i want to point out the food too, kjøttboller / meatballs are not a famous dish of Norway. we do make them but you already included them in sweden and thats where they are famous. so why not put in smala hove (sheep head) or Brun-ost (Brown Cheese) that are more famous food ralted items from norway. And Norways national animal is not Lion, cause Lion is from Africa therfor never been a part of Norways natural eco system so they never been our national animal, it is how ever on our emblem but so it is in all the nordic countires. Norways national animal is a bird called Fossekallen (Cinclus cinclus/Waterfall Call???).

Actually it is your Royal national Animal. but yeah this categori just says national animal so in your case it too would be the Elk like in sweden. Also the Danish one is wrong too, it's the Swan in our case which was named so because of how many we have due to our huge coastline but also because of HC Andersens fairytale ''the ugly duckling'' in honor of one of our most beloved and well known figures through out our history. Edit: Actually i'm wrong yours is the moose not elk.
@Vikingskog
@Vikingskog 2 жыл бұрын
You are partially wrong and partially right on the lion part. Lion IS a national animal of Norway. And lions are not just from Africa, there used to exist lions in Europe as well, in the mediterranean, they went exinct 1000 years ago. The usage of lions in heraldry was popularized in the roman empire(and to some degree ancient greece) and its successor the Byzantine empire(the East roman empire) which had actual wild european lions up till the middleages, and thus it spread through rest of Europe as heraldry and a popular symbol. Norway actually has 3 national animals. 1. Lion. 2. Fossekall/White-Throated Dipper. 3. Fjord horse/Fjording

Its hard to compare as they are structured differently. Finland has a larger army and more artillery, thoug some old artillery, Sweden har newer artillery but way fewer. Thoug Sweden has a lot larger marine and airforce and very modern. I think the total military ranking by an international system is key Sweden 25 and Finland 53, though that does not calculate with the Finnish Perkele.

well, there would be no independent Finland at all if Russia had not annexed it from Sweden, and Russia would have more land now if it had not given Karelia to the finns as a gift during the annexation, because even though Russia returned eastern part of Karelia, the western part still remained with the finns, and Finland could generally lose its independence after WWII for participating in the blockade of Leningrad and the nazi occupation of the USSR, but it was spared, so if I were you, I would not complain

A couple of points: Iceland should be included, as it is a Nordic country. Norway celebrates 17th of May as national day, to comemmorate the aproval of our Costitution, and independence from Denmark. Norway was then forced into union with Sweden on 4th of November 1814, in which we stayed until 7th of June 1905, hence Independece day. It should definately be celebrated, as it was that date Norway became an independent nation. As for religion, last suveys indicate about 65% atheists in Norway. The number of Christians date back to when Norway had a State Church (disbanded in 2012). and when newborn were automaticly enterd into the register. Many have not withdrawn their name, despite being athreists, while others don't even know they're registered. I guess the same may be for the other Nordic countries. Finally, there was no mention of the Norwegian Pension Fund (Oil fund), where money from petroleum is put aside for later generations. It's value is currently almost 12 000 billion NOK....

Cool video, you probably did a lot of work for this, but some facts you get wrong, Denmark isn't 42,000 km2, but around 2.2 million km2. Mainland Denmark is 42,000 km2, I get why it's confusing, as most of the people live there, but you're leaving out 98% of the land, both the Faroe Islands and Greenland. I get it's a slight error, but for a lot of Danes it's quite annoying because there's been some slightly controversial "offers of purchase" of these lands by a certain orange haired man that loves walls. Even not so long ago, a former American ambassador outright proposed to annex it militarily, however unlikely that is. Leaving the territories out kind of implies, intentional or not, that you're supporting that. And also, the Danish national animal is not a red squirrel, but a swan. And Norway celebrates 17th of May. Something from an inside perspective also, I'm not sure about all the Nordics, but Denmark at least has a habit of separating things into smaller pieces, for an example, yes the population of Inner Copenhagen is only about 800.000, but Copenhagen is chopped up into so many smaller entities. Frederiksberg doesn't count as Inner Copenhagen, despite lying completely surrounded by Inner Copenhagen. To get the complete picture, it would be better to use Metropolitan Areas of the cities, as that gives a better picture. In that case Copenhagens population is around 1.7 Million to 1.8 I think, and Stockholm is up there at those numbers too, if not even higher. Cool video and interesting concept nonetheless!

@@MrMk82 Inflation is not really a concern long term for Scandinavians since out governments are almost boringly responsible and will eventually get it down to below 2% like always. That's more than what can be said of other countries who just compile bad decisions with worse ones. Denmark has an inflation rate of 7,4 but it matters little.

@@icebox1954 i am a swede i live in sweden i can feel the inflation as it is now. Living costs is rising about 50K SEK (family of 4)a year. And we cant see any solution to this the nearest year/years. Our social democrats have/are doing really bad and our once Great country is on its down fall.

@@MrMk82 If you think this mild inflation means that the country is "on its down fall" then you're too sheltered. Also, your immigration has done more harm to your country than the inflation. At least the current crisis is only temporary, as opposed to the permanent mess your country will warp into.

Why not the nightinggale - another bird that H.C. Andersen wrote a story about - which looks so ordinary but sings so beautifully? No, it has to be that big aggresive shitbird that chases children ind the park and can't sing for shit, only hiss. That bird really matches our national spirit. :)
