Stockholm vs. Pornainen.. Or whatever is the strangest FennoSwedish dialect, I'm not an expert on that since I'm not svenskspråkig :)

I'm not any dialect expert either, any Finlandssvensk dialect would do I guess. Närpes from Österbotten would probably be the ultimate challenge :)

Funny that bangade means to chicken out, because in dutch 'bang' means scared
@herrbonk36354 жыл бұрын
The same in danish, and therefore in swedish slang :)
@Spikklubba3 жыл бұрын
And isnt specific to Skåne, they dont explicitly claim that it is but easy to think so when included in a dialectical phrase. Banga is common to say in Stockholm too. I hear it more there than in Bergslagen where i grew up, i even thought it was stockholm slang because my main exposure to that word came from stockholmers.

It is a common stereotype that the Stockholm dialect sounds complaining and snobbish because of its cadence, pitch, and intonation. The dialect is often associated with the upper class and more affluent areas of the city, leading to perceptions of snobbery. Additionally, the Swedish language itself has a tendency to sound flat and monotonous to non-native speakers, which may contribute to the perception of complaining. However, it is important to remember that stereotypes do not accurately reflect the diversity and complexity of a dialect or language.

Is there that big of a difference between Stockholm and Skåne dialect, so they have difficulties understanding each other?
@Spikklubba3 жыл бұрын
Can be if it is a particularly heavy accent, but as long as you tone it down a notch and adapt it is no problem. Might have to ask to repeat a phrase or word here and there but otherwise completely intelligible.

Great video! When, as a Swede, traveling around the country, do you switch to English or is there a school version of Swedish everyone can use?
@Nackagubben6 жыл бұрын
We all pretty much understand each other. It would be considered rude if you were to switch to English while talking to another Swede!
@OliverPerssonMusik6 жыл бұрын
There is always Written Swedish, for me its really forced to speak it, but sometimes i have to, i have an easy time understanding most people. Its just Skåne that can be pretty difficult. When i talk, being from upper Värmland, many Swedes mistake us for being Norwegians.
