Do you mean a waxholmsbolaget ferry? Or something up north? That's so cool, I would have thought the coast guard would assist with that.

@@nisselarson3227 I assumed by your name swedish is okay.

@@nisselarson3227 Sorry, aparently my answer dissapeared. It's up in the mid/north, by Umeå. And it was beacuse the military was doing a rough sea training just in the neighbourhood. So they were asked and gladly came to give us a ride. Then they return 2 days later and gave us a ride again.

Yea the Swedish AK5 FNFNC variant is heavy as heck for a 5,56 carbine. Its basically a solid slab of aluminum. Not a bad carbine but most Swedish conscripts are surprised the first time they hold an AR etc on how light it is comparatively after lugging that thing around for months.

yankees never buy foreign stuff... and if they do some hardass nationalist in the pentagon gets diarhea. they could have a leopard, they could have a NH90 (instead of extending blackhawk lifespan) , they could have the best that money can buy, just like we buy F35s.. but their military industrial complex doesnt like to compete on the basis of quality and effectiveness or fairplay tender. Buy foreign stuff is out of the question most of the time,. though they are interested in stealing blueprints and take inspiration. (tried to get into -spanish leopard 2 production plant which is running licensed fabrication - at some point in time, very little known factoid there) Fun to work with them on grunt level for sure, but you cant trust their political leadership to be straight with you.

@@lindahl01 thanks for the education. I am speaking more for the finnish, finland has jaegers eller fan jägerna som svedupellet sager perkele hi hi If you want to translate that to rangers then i would ask, why? you refer to their role, then what is the role of as ranger? I am a navy person who served in germany i know so little :) But i think we should not bend over to americans and their terminology ever - we should stay with our own terminology (jaegers/amfiesoldater/jaegerna) and if needed translate what their roles are. --- unless, a common terminology is required for trans-NATO collaboration, that is something i could get behind. Big learning step for finnish people, because in radiocommunication they use national spelling alphabet.... (except airfarce)

Easy, calm down your horses. those who fought the soviets are not in active service anymore. The old Heros are mostly gone. Also ... sadly we did not "defeat" the soviets, we just defended our independence.. and we lost huge parts of territory as well as access to the arctic sea. Those who are now in the army, have yet to prove their value. Lets not glorify a bunch of kids who have never fought in a real war, even if theyre finns. Exception: the contingent that was in afghanistan I am a finn, and very patriotic and i think we should remain humble, it suits us better.

Rubber boots on skis from the 50's , this is your Akilles heel. Throw all this in the garbage and upgrade this important equipment, it has nothing to do in the North of Norway where temperatures can fall to -20 in a few hours. Do not save money on equipment like this, if your team is struggling with the environment equipped with outdated and garbage equipment, they might as well stay in the barracks. You need the best of the best equipment to thrive in this environment. Coastal Norway in the winter will be going from heavy rain and +C to snow and freezing in a matter of hour. I grew up in North of Norway, served several years in the military.
@herptek
@herptek 6 ай бұрын
Do you actually not understand what the conditions in Finland are like? I just really have to take a hard laugh at your ignorance. Rubber boots are exactly the item you want to have, no, you can't properly do without in weather conditions where the temperature alternates between wet or above zero conditions to freezing in a matter of hours. During summer, after thaw you can wear some other choice of footwear. I also can tell that you have never worn the winter rubber boots of the Finnish army, that can be used with skis. Everyone who has can testify that it is singlehandedly the best, most comfortable and crucially irreplaceable clothing item in the whole locker. The only kind of combat footwear that doesn't end up in your feet freezing while long stationary in very cold conditions for hours.

I can tell you by experience from the Finnish Marines that the rubber boots are very good if not the best type of footware for winter conditions. They are specificly made for winter, and that is why we use them, id say dont judge them before actually trying them urself. They might be a bit clumpsy but i rather be a bit clumpsy and have warm and dry feet than a little bit more agile and wet and cold feet. What footware did you have in norway when it was winter?
