Tanks have been reduced to infantry support because of drones. An old t-64 can be used for that. Why use a first rate MBT in that role if you do not have too ????? That's why you do not see them. It has nothing to do with any of the issues you put forth. Pay attention and learn how the Russians make war.

Hanno sparato tutte le munizioni che avevamo nel paese probabilmente. Non ci sono i soldi manco per le mutande, spesso ti fanno firmare per dire di aver sparato al poligono anche se poi non ti fanno sparare perché 1 o le munizioni non ci sono 2 o se le rivende con qualche classico giro il comando di turno.

Trained with the Alpini when I was a paratrooper stationed in Vicenza, late 80's and early 90s. The Alpini are outstanding soldiers and fantastic mountaineering. Great experience.

If the maneuvers were in Alaska, I would accept the version of "American paratroopers train the Italian Alpini" but being in the Alps... they can teach little to those tough and crazy Alpinists. On the other hand, it should be noted that American winter suits are not the best, they are luminescent white and easy to spot compared to the Italian ones, which are similar in color to snow.

I don't know about you, but the combat performance of Italian warriors for two thousand years is more than poor, unless the 101st or 82nd was there learning exactly how not to do it. Then yes, that would be quite funny, how for example it takes half a year for the Italian Toni to deliver any spare parts for anything and the warehouseman gets the machine he is sending the part to wrong... Go to Italy and see what their roads look like, what a hole next to the hole, the lines on them can't be seen (Rome), in the space of three lanes at the intersection there are seven cars and four motorbikes next to each other... Getting trained by these "hard workers" means, on the first winter deployment, to reliably freeze according to their advice. You can't even learn how to get drunk from an Italian, because an Italian dilutes his wine with water and his beer is outrageously disgusting.

You say so cause you dont'know italian History, You know only about WW2. The following video will show you all Italian victories since the Kingdom of Italy was born 1861. In the middleage Italy was not unified, there were many little Kingdoms and also some of them were very strong. It is Sept ‘24 and there has been recent proposals for several other democracies to join tier 2 of AUKUS, including Japan. I mention this because Australia, having reviewed its surface fleet will acquire / build eleven smaller frigates to go with its large Hunter Class and AWDs. Japan is a lead contender for this contract. More to the point Japan has two modified IZUMO class Carriers, similar in size to Australia’s LHDs (28,000 tonnes) but with two large lifts ( one aft and one amidships) and has a great turn of speed at 30+ knots, ( unlike the LHDs at 21 knots ). Australia should look to cooperate with Japan to build more IZUMO Class Carriers, to share and mitigate costs and to obtain the knowledge and experience in running aircraft carriers ( an art lost in time ). It wouldn’t hurt to build the second tranche of Hunter Class frigates as the upgunned variants on offer from the UK with 96 VLS magazines. We need to get serious! The Chinese are well ahead of the game.

The Alpini Corp fought in Russia during WW2. Accordingly to the Russians they was the only ones able to resist the soviet forces. The experience the Corp have in such environment could be crucial for the Allied forces if we would ever enter a war against Russia. How to survive in such environment, how to move during Rasputizia, how to fight the Russians. Our Alpini will certaintly play an important role for NATO in such circumstances. Also, the Alpini corp was also one of the few axis forces that didn't retailiate against russian population during the war, and also treated prisoners in a fair way, sharing food and shelter. It is important to remember that we must show mercy and hope. Otherwise war will just turn into hell. Soviets said to save the Alpini they had captured, those few ones, but they didn't actually shown mercy. My grandfather was one of them. We found his body few years ago in a mass graveyard in Russia. Russians have shown no mercy. Hence we Italians will have no restrain against their forces. But the people, the civilians, those must be saved. No retailation will ever be moved against civilians by Italian forces. That's little but absolute.
