To go shopping can be kind of an adventure while living in a remote place in the Balkan Mountain of Bulgaria.
Welcome to my channel, I am Anneli from Sweden, ex. road nomad who bought a little farm in the Balkan Mountains in the Vratsa region of Bulgaria.
The Vratsa region is the poorest region of Bulgaria, but what not many people outside of Bulgaria know is that it also is one of the most spectacular places on earth, with breathtaking unspoiled nature.
For nature and adventure lovers this region offer endless of outdoor activities and places to explore. You will find everything from mountains, rivers, caves, hang gliding, rock climbing, eco/trekking trails, rafting to rural village life and nice restaurants here.

Ah, Bulgaria. The land of 6.7 million people and 23 million dogs. Most live near my villa in Sliven. I so enjoy my morning rides past their enclosures and their incessant barking. It's like...Victory! But who wouldn't want to ride their bike down the bumpy dirt trails of the Vilna Zona to the asphalt track that leads to Kaulfand and Bila? It's a joy to stop off at my favorite banitsarnitsa and get a sirene or kashkaval filled banitsa and a small coffee for four leva. You have to go and try it. It's a step back in time, but also a slower pace and a closer to the Earth life. It has it's less than obvious rewards. See you this Summer Baba Minka. Do Skoro vishdane.

Annie, may i ask you what motivated you to move to such a remote place in Bulgaria? My country is such a forgotten destination and has been bad mouthed so much that when I see a westerner come to live here I'm pleasantly surprised, but can't really explain to myself why... Why leave beautiful Sweden to come to live here? And why live in a remote place like this instead of a more maintained city like Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv or even Stara Zagora. In any case i hope you're enjoying your time here.
@dreamcatchingannie840

Hi Svetla, Its true Bulgaria is not known by many and if so they have often heard bad things unfortunately, because its so the oposit. Bulgaria is just an amazingly beautiful country with such friendly and warm people. I left Sweden long ago because I want to experience as much as I can in life and you cant do that if you stay in the same spot. For sure Sweden is a nice country but also quite "squere" and correctly boring and I want to live in more dynamic places. Why a remote place....well I grew on the countryside in Sweden, but from 15 to 32 I lived in big cities like Stockholm, Santiago and London. One day I got tired of the city life and a huge desire to connect with nature again came over me, so that in a few words is the reason I ended up on a remote mountain here in your lovely country Bulgaria. Thanks for writing to me 🌺💖🌺

@@dreamcatchingannie840 yes, the lands where there are mountains, like the Balkans, are those places on earth where one finds peace. that's why temples and monasteries are built in mountainous places - people know that in the mountains they get peace of mind, and due to a great connection with nature, they also get energy. the fields are exposed and don't give you that energy that the mountain, rocks and megaliths give you. I understand that instead of going to the Himalayas or some Asian monastery, the land is still more expensive there, you are further away and you don't understand their languages.. while this has made you look for a closer place here in Europe, at the same time which offers you cheap living and proximity to European culture as well as the tranquility of the mountains.

Please don't come to Bulgaria. I found it first way back in 2000, and I don't want a lot of crowds. Noisy, messy, tourists. Nope. I love hiking the Green Trail up from the Lift Station on Karandila and only seeing Bulgarians on the train. All I say and hear is, "Zdrasti!" That's enough. Just the winding hilly trails of Karandila and the people there that belong there. It's good to be in a place with few foreigners (Chyzhdentsi).
