Because they don't want their brains to work, because that's an effort they don't want to take, so this sounds to technical and from Mars talking. I am with you, it is annoying. If the dislikes come from biologists, I would love to read about their views on the issue

Hello Swedish Plantguys, Thank you very much for the explanatory videos. I really enjoyed the ones related to dracaenas, since recently I have bought couple of varieties. I am a new subscriber to your channel and in few of your videos, you are talking about pumice. I have reviewed the specific video for that and got really interested in the volcanic rock. I live in Bulgaria, and I have visited multiple stores and go on a lot of websites, but was unable to find similar mixture to the one you are describing. In most of the cases the volcanic rock sold here is used for decoration or only for aquarium purposes. Can you please help us find such potting mixture or at least give us a link/photo of the bag which it is shipped with ? Thank you in advance and keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next videos !!

Thank you for shearing your information & knowledge about plants 🌱.. My question is if plants are doing photosynthesis to get sugar , then is it a better way to add sugar to the soil? I’m only wondering!!!
@ilyanaismail53913 жыл бұрын
Adding sugar to the soil won't help the plant (if I remember my biology lessons from school). I'm not a botanist or plant biologist, but I vaguely recall learning this in school. The sugars that plants make are at the basic level, which then gets used to make more complex sugars (like cellulose) and carbohydrates (in tuberous plants).

Great video. Thank you! I just remembered an interesting fact that a friend told me that some succulents actually slow their growth or even shed leaves when provided with more light as this helps the plant remain hydrated when there is a scariness of water. Less leaves = less area to lose moisture from.

So technically if you pot your plants up in pumice (like from that video) and use the microfiber cloth and keep the original plant soil (with good, healthy roots), could you plant plants with different watering needs together? If they had the same light requirements?

I really love the explanation and it's very clear! One thing what I missed is how does the plant make proteine? Because it can't make proteine out of pure sugar, therefore it also needs nitrogen. Thanks in advance for answering :)! I really like this channel and have binged it in the last month, it's very informative and gives me a deeper understanding of how plants work.

I discovered you, Swedish Plantguys, last night. Thank you for saving me from repotting my plants incorrectly and without the correct soil mix ( soil and pumice). On behalf of my plants, they also say thank you. Your videos are all entertaining, educational and on point! Question- perhaps you already cover this in an existing video, how to plant in a container without holes for proper drainage? Also, who are you? Please at some point let us know your name and how you have come to know so much about plants. Btw, you say that talking to plants increases CO2 exposure for them and that is good for growth. Personally, I like to think it's our friendship that causes them thrive so well. I know my plants always make me feel better and "grow". Thanks again!

If watering helps to increase the highway between roots and leaves, shouldn't we water plants often and disregard the advice of watering only when soils are dried out for an inch or two, at least during the growing season? I have followed this latter rule, now I start to see it's a bad one. It also explains why my friend had the same type of plant as mine and hers grew so much better; she watered it regularly once a week way before the soil was dried out while for me I had to wait at least 2 weeks for the soil to dry out before I started to water the plant.
@matthewkheyfets13093 жыл бұрын
As I understand it,this has become an extensive problem especially in America. The reason for this is that people at the universities have started to say to everyone to use organic soils, basically wood chips, mulch, bark, and compost as a soil medium. This wasn't the issue before. Before they used more of a sandy loam, the holy grail of soils. Sand loam has a great combination of Sand, Silt, and Clay and therefore has a great mixture of drainage, nutrients, and water retention resulting in a mix that you can essentially water all the time with no problems. So what about the bark, wood, and compost? Well the problem is these things rots and creates a soggy goo in the pot. This makes getting Oxygen to the plants much harder and is why many people kill their plants. The plant may last for a few months to a few years because the wood may take a long time to break down, but break down it will and it will turn into a goo and the inevitable happens. The reason some plants do great in compost is essentially because they've been breed to survive in either low oxygen level environments and/or they have been genetically selected to survive amongst dead and decaying plant matter. Otherwise, a lot of plants will die. So going back to your question: No we should not ignore their recommendations because if they always making and selling soils than have good ole organic matter and forest products as their main ingredients, then you must let the soil dry out because otherwise you risk the roots not getting enough oxygen. But, if you use proper soil, then heck water as often as you'd like. I can even confirm from personal experience. I thought compost made everything better. Well since I had limited compost I thought since it makes everything better, a mix of compost and miracle grow will be cheap and the compost will save the miracle grower. Everything died except for one plant and couldn't figure it out until much later when I was like hmm, maybe that sludge I tried to create isn't such a good idea. Now I use coco coir and vermiculite and while I struggle to get enough pot space and light, I haven't lost a plant to soil or over watering yet. I eventually want to try just growing in pumice and vermiculite or pumice, sand, and vermiculite. Organic materials always and only go on top of the soil, it mixed in :D
