I have a question for someone... it's bothered me since I started watching rally. Can someone tell me why the Mitsubishi EVOs always sound like they're short-shifting at relatively low revs, while the other makes in general are very high-revving by comparison? I assume it has to do with how the turbo engine in a EVO makes power?

yeah , you are 100 percent correct. The turbo rally ecu on the evo is set-up to has some strange ways of working with the restrictor plate. Don't quote me on this but if I don't recall wrong the anti-lagg is set low in the rev range as otherwise it would dump to much fuel into the engine and might hurt the engine.
