Handi Quilter ambassador and renown quilt artist David Taylor advises quilters to "become one with their machines." It takes lots of practice, he says, to truly become comfortable with machine quilting. Even he practices before diving into a quilting project. He demonstrates his technique on the Handi Quilter Sweet 16, pointing out the benefits of the stitch regulator. Other tips include, moving the quilt project clockwise and counterclockwise while quilting and guiding the project very gently.

I so want that machine! Your guest did an excellent job of demonstrating it and I learned a nifty tip for finishing the thread on the back.

Being honest, I’d really like to see a demo on this machine ( and any other quilting machine) where the quilter is manipulating a larger item...say a minimum of twin sized. I can quilt a sandwich that small on my smallest machine. Most of us considering this type of item are doing so because we want improvement / ease from our smaller machines and would like to see what how this machine would look. I’m ranting here but I’m sick of quilting classes / techniques too that show designs being stitch on ten by ten squares. “Look how easy it is!” Yeah, no kidding. I can do that on a small square. Now show us on a real project we’re likely to want to stitch that on and maybe even without a stitch regulator.

lisztspinky I would like to see the same because working on anything bigger than a crib size is a pain in the neck, literally

Me too. I sew mostly queen and king size quilts and it would be really helpful if someone actually quilted a large quilt and showed how to manage it.

Right, they never show how a big quilt is done. Same with hoopless hand quilters. They never show how they quilt the middle.

I have a small company in Nakshi Palli. The poor women of our village work in handicrafts. I am also poor people can not afford to buy sewing machines. Helpless women would benefit if there were some sewing machines, but I can't afford them. I want your advice. I would like to buy a quinting sewing machine on a very low budget, name one of the best sewing machines on a low budget. I only want to sew with quilting pressure feet.
