I am a white guy, you know the characters I like playing? It ranges from aliens, anime characters (of either gender), monsters, old in age, young in age, male, female. I don't care what they are as long as they are well written and don't feel shoved in, and in fact I often picked female avatars for many games especially Western ones as I didn't want a macho pretty boy avatar I wanted it to be unrealistic and even comical and have like a tiny female character be powerful. What I didn't like though is in scripted games where say a female character is just a strong independant woman who needs no man as they felt no fun I wanted a almost blank slate or even a almost genderless character i.e I could play a JRPG and theres a chosen one but the plot never mentions anywhere that they have to be male or female so the game never mentions it nor shows a potential romance that way the character is just a underdog who proves themself.

I'm glad that this situation has blown up the way it has. It really puts the scope of GamerGate into focus, because this is way bigger than GG. More people are talking about it, and they're talking about it to bigger audiences. There was a video posted yesterday from Nux Taku where he reacts to ItsaGundam's video, and then you have Nerdrotic, G+G and Critical Drinker who are all bigger than any prominent GG personality (except for Adam Baldwin, who is an actual celebrity, though he didn't talk too much about it in the grand scheme of things). Even the Steam group Kabrutus created looks to be growing much faster than KotakuInAction. More people are paying attention these days. And remember, this was never a fight gamers wanted to have. We just wanted to play video games. But these cretins have made it necessary that we oppose them for the integrity of our hobby. Gamers were the first group in the culture war to actually fight for what they care about. Too many people in other areas of culture are still afraid and sitting on their hands, and the longer they do the worse off we'll be. And if I'm being honest, I have no respect for people still too afraid to call out this absurdity for what it is. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. Maybe it was more difficult to speak out during GG because the other side had such a stranglehold on things but now it's no excuse. If you aren't fighting this rot to some degree, you are the problem. Quietly agreeing with us is not enough. This requires pushback.
