Micro transactions aren't bad if they don't give players an edge. I've bought a lot of dlc content since the PS3 days and don't regret it. Companies got greedy and release unfinished trash games to maximize profit, and those companies should definitely not be supported. Trying to force players to dish out more money on games that are already expensive is how we got here. These companies make conscious decisions to conduct business this way.

My hypothesis is that Generation Z and younger think the Culture War crap we have been engaging in is cringe. Their politics have not defied any trends or shifted drastically in one direction, but have grown up watching their older siblings and/or parents fight over pointless political nonsense. So when ever it shows up in a game/TV show/movie/music the disengage from that property and move on. They do not have the emotional investment into the franchises being ruined by companies like SBI like older generations do, so it is easy for them to disengage. So what ends up happening is older fans feel betrayed and do not continue supporting their long time favorite franchises and the younger demo's these companies like SBI claim to speak for do not want anything to do with it, because of the added political baggage.

Lately the craziness has me revisiting my youth (roughly the 90's up to 2011) and I miss it so much. Recently I started re-watching shows like Avatar the Last Airbender, and it still is a great story with a fantastic characters. I remember when Skyrim came out, I was in college and there were so many gatherings on campus just to watch someone play the game. I truly miss those years, from the amazing stories to everyone getting together to have fun. I would have never guessed things would turn out like this... I want to return to how things used to be, so seeing the general public band together like this is a bit heartwarming. I hope we can one day see great stories again, and enjoy them together.

If you need some concrete proof this is happening consider this: Shortfatotaku uploaded a video where he talks with a person who worked on that nu-Saint's Row reboot. They said during development the studio put together a "Diversity Team" (comprised of all white people, mind you) to filter ideas through. One idea they had was giving the player the ability to strip a downed NPC of their clothes, tying in to their quote "robust character creator". So sounds pretty cool, right? Find new clothes in the world. Well this Diversity Group vetoed the idea because they said, and I quote, "Stripping NPCs of their clothing would be like r*p1ng them"... So you know Starfield? You know how in every Bethesda RPG before Starfield you could strip an NPC of their armor, leaving them in their under wear? Well guess what they don't allow you to do in Starfield anymore. Now imagine they go through this veto process for every single video game mechanic that gets brought up, with equally ridiculous reasons to not include them, even though they were a staple of video games past. This is why video games all feel stale, and gray, and boring, and same-y, and safe.

Nice channel. I find it funny they blame investors for “infinite growth” and while they do have a point, what they don’t get is that it’s hard to grow when many stop pre-ordering because they don’t trust developers to make good fun games that they will feel happy playing. The last game I pre-ordered was Cyberpunk 2077, and I’ve learned that you can’t trust a game until it’s out and someone has played it. I am thankful to KZbinrs who play and review games before I spend money.

I think one key thing to consider is that these studios already have the “typical male gamer” demographic so their investment to outsource companies that can reach diverse groups actually makes a lot of sense. The issue is the shallow approach and execution taken to reach these underrepresented gamers is so laughably out of touch that they compromise each game they touch.

This AAA crash is due to multiple factors, the wokeism is one major factor, but then there is the infinite growth, scope and budgets, but then also abuse of MTXs, Battlepasses and Gatcha as well as immense competition from AA and Indie.
