Actually meconium is supposed to be expelled post delivery. Passing the meconium while in the womb is toxic to the fetus, increases risk of infection, and usually indicates long standing gestational issues with the fetus. (Up and coming labor and delivery nurse here)

Two questions about ant keeping: Do you not need to clean out their cages like with reptiles or other insects? Don't the adults poop a lot? Even a little bit would add up. And since there's no predators and they keep reproducing, does that mean they will keep outgrowing their cages and need to be moved a lot?

I can answer. No cleaning is needed, they do it themselves. Only if they pass away and you get new ants, then you should. With poop, they poop in their outworld and clean it. To stop growth, lower food income.

The first bowl movement of human babies is also called meconium. Sometimes if a baby is over due they will have this bowl movement before they're born, and because babies practice breathing in amniotic fluid they will "breath" in the fluid with the meconium in it.
