Every time my school band gets to measure 34 our director shouts "this is where things get FUNKY"

I played this in high school at basketball games when I was in pep band. My mom loved this song. Her and a few other moms would start screaming once we started playing the first few notes

I’m in 8th grade and every year the 8th grade band gets to play with the high school marching band for the home football game and it was soooo much fun for all of us

In my schools small band, there is no trombones and only one tenor sax player. But me, the only mellophone at our school, was given the melody part at measure 24 so the tenor sax guy wasn't alone.

This might be a stretch considering that you posted this comment 2 years ago, but would you happen to know some of the notes for it? As I'm also my schools only Mellophone player and I would like to see what you have measure 24.

Whenever o ... listen, watch these scores the baritone part is always bass clef ... is it weird I read treble?
@josiahk334 жыл бұрын
Yes
@dedede55864 жыл бұрын
just read the tenor sax part then, it's almost always the same
@steelbase78034 жыл бұрын
Not really. Because its the same fingering as trumpet, its transposed to read like a trumpet if you are in treble most of the time. Also in high level bands, there could be a euphonium in treble playing different then the ones on bass

At my school, there's no trombones and only 1 tenor sax. But my director gave me a a copy of the trombone part transposed to the mellophone key.

I love the re-composition, and I love how he put lots of triplets in there, those are always fun especially while accented on upbeats. It is definitely better than Tim Waters' composition, but just by a hair.
