God bless you guys, when we used to have an abundant year with our gardens we gave to the neighbors use to take some bags of Jersey tomatoes to my co workers but this year with all the freaking rainstorms we had it was barely enough for our families. My beautiful 81 1/2 year old mother has made countless trays of stuffed tomatoes (bought from farm store) we cannot get enough of them. You two keep up the good work, & may our gracious God reward you for it!!!

Catching up on all of your videos and I'll have to say that was the best so far! Love sweet corn and even though we have doubled the amount we planted last year, I'm almost out and wish we would have quadrupled our planting. Now, if I could find someone to take the extra cucumbers..... Twos plant and WAY to many.

I put two ears (still in the husk) in the microwave for three minutes. After removal I put on my gloves and cut off the stem end, then squeeze the top gently until everything comes off. The amazing part is, even the little strings come off almost completely, too. Then, some butter and salt and enjoyment.

Very gracious of you guys to share the crop, btw, it looks good from here. My neighbor grows a bunch and shares just like you and I am very thankful for the generosity. He dropped off a dozen ears just last week. On the cooking,: in the shuck, 3 minutes one side, turn over, another minute other side in a 1000w microwave, delicious! Haven't boiled an ear since my first microwave ear.

I had never had any luck growing corn, but gave it another try this year. I was so proud of it and then it blew down. I thought the Lord was telling me that he gave the corn and my pride was not tolerated. I tried to stand it back up and worked at a couple hours before giving it up. Then the Lord in His mercy revived my corn and He stood it back up. I planted peaches and cream and it was so good. My girl cuts off the stalk end and puts in the microwave for 2.5 or 3 minutes. The corn pulls out of the shucks and it is ready for salt and butter. God bless you and yours brother Tim.

On my family’s produce farm we use a thin knife to cut them off the stalk. Our recipe is to put a pot of water on the stove to boil, then go out to the field and cut your corn. After that you put your ears in the pot until it comes back to a boil. You really only need to get it hot enough to melt the butter. I enjoy mine with butter and Old Bay. Great video!

I grew the RR sweet corn that you recommended last year, and this was the highest yielding, best tasting corn I have grown in twenty years. The average stock produced 3-4 cobs with no corn bore, worms, or deformities. No issues with raccoons, just rabbits eating young plants during the early stage. I have been giving it away for weeks now as well as freezing some and it couldn’t have turned out better. You should be proud, you made an impact in south western Ontario because as far as I know, I’m the only one growing it and never would have put the effort in going to the US to buy seed if you hadn’t of shown how well it grows. Thanks guys, you made a lot of people happy.

@AirplaneDoctor_
@AirplaneDoctor_ 6 жыл бұрын
nitrampd Canada Border services cares if you buy booze and cigarettes, that’s about it, pretty sad really. The type of seed I purchased is only available for sale in the continental US, as to permitted in Ontario, not really gonna comment on that. The most endearing part of this corn is that it will grow in heavy clay which generally will only support field corn.

We work at it, Chase. Not only us, but a few other neighbors work at having social events, etc. good neighborhoods don’t happen by accident. But one family can change/improve the tone of the neighborhood. Just keep showing love, even if it isn’t always appreciated. Forgive others when they say or do things that offend. Quite frankly, read your New Testament, and follow what it says! This will help you to build a better neighborhood!

Interesting.. here in Wisconsin we harvested two weeks ago already. First crop was 2 weeks before that. We plant a first crop then two weeks later a second. Ironically we planted late this year due to weather too. Also the ears that are not full, we trim to kernels and freeze it that way. Keep the good ears for corn on the cob but anything that is partial or not quite formed well, we just cut off the kernels and do it that way.

I usually eat one ear per year. I like it, but it doesn't like me! My neighbors had a local outdoor restaurant that was open only during the summer. They converted me into eating corn their way. Clean it, then throw it into the deep fryer. Instantly seared the juices inside. Leave it in the fryer until the edges of the kernels turn golden brown. Very hot and juicy. That's the best I've ever had!

Something about microwave cooking really imparts an intense corn flavor from the husk into the corn. I guess it's not dehydrating the husk as much -- allowing for more steaming flavor. If it's store-bought and a little dry, I will soak it for 5 min, but corn from the garden goes straight into the microwave.
