Peas and potatoes I’m sure are good. I was raised Catholic and on Fridays during Lent my mom made peas and pasta. Spaghetti and butter garlic Parmesan and peas.

I've had peas in cream sauce, and I've had potatoes in cream sauce, but never had them together, but I'm sure I'd love it. Pretty sure I'd want me some cornbread with it. Great dinner for a cool evening, and maybe soon we'll have some of those here in Texas, lol.

My grandma was the only person who could get me to eat peas idk what she did but they was always cooked perfectly without them being mushy. But these look tasty.

@@sistahspeaks9816 she most likely put the peas in at the last moment and that way the peas didn’t get mushy ! Peas cook in just a minute or two which is they I like my peas ! I love peas on my salads and all I do is take frozen peas and put some hot tap water in a measuring cup and put about 1/2.cub of peas in the hot water to defrost for a bout a minute drain them and pour over my salad , they care so delicious in my salad that way !! They taste fresh and still have a nice texture and taste !!

MM-MM-MM! I loved creamed peas, by themselves or with carrots, or potatoes, or lots of onion. My grandma used to make them often. She used Wondra flour for her thickening. I use it, too, but it's getting harder to find. You have a blessed weekend, Talli! You are a gem!

Oh my gosh! I was laughing after you took that bite of the hot potato! I knew it would be hot and yet you danced like it wasn’t !! Miss Tali; would it not be better to use milk and corn-starch (or potato-starch) and make a slurry? I’m thinking the flour might make it taste a might under-cooked. But of course, as always, I defer to yr superior kitchen skills. Thank you, and may the Pantheon smile upon us all.

@@Nemo67577 I’ve just always preferred flour over cornstarch in this recipe in particular… it’s just a preference… you can use cornstarch if you like… the flour cooks and I like the taste it adds to the sauce 😊

We hee, Tally, I can't wait to make this recipe. I grew up with creamed potatoes. I also grew up with creamed peas. I've never had creamed peas and potatoes add onions together. We always used canned evaporated milk. I think my family also used canned peas. This recipe sounds and looks so wonderful. It is a must try for my family.

When I was young we didn't have alot of money so mom had to make things that stretched she'd make cream peas on toast. But she passed and I didn't get the recipe. So I had no idea how it was made. When I was a little girl there were times when we ate creamed peas that is what we used to call it over toast and to this day I still eat creamed peas over toast. We also ate cream cheddar cheese green beans and it is yummy, you can either use garden fresh green beans or canned but don't over cook the green beans you don't want mush.
