I love this!!!! I have planted my green peas, lettuce, brussel sprouts, cabbages, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, and collard greens. Please, make more videos about when you start seeds and how you start them. Sowing versus transplant, harvest dates, how you extend your harvest, etc. I'd love to see the updates.

You have the biggest sweet potato harvest from containers that I have seen. And I have ween a lot. i wonder if your method of growing would work as well on white potatoes ! Good luck with the cabbage .

Will use your tub method next year. My slips grew very well, but needed more space and compost in my opinion.

Hi Sir, what are the names of those trays and where do you get them from? Thank you

Actually those tiny taters make GREAT stir fry ! Those orange roots are awfully good if you cure them !
@GrowAndEatThis Жыл бұрын
They all get eaten. The skinny ones get sliced longways and made into sweet potato fries. Done on the grill they are great.

Do you cure your sweet potato harvest? How long and under what conditions?
@GrowAndEatThis2 жыл бұрын
The best I can do for curing is low 70s, humidity is whatever it is in the basement. I do put a big fan on them to keep the air moving. After about 3 weeks they are great and last until they are all eaten, usually late winter. We eat a lot of sweet potatoes and put them in the DIY dog food.

@@GrowAndEatThis When I have purchased sweet potatoes at the farmers market, the farmer/seller told me to put them in the pantry to cure. Wrapping in newspaper was helpful, but optional. We love them too.

Are there holes on the bottom of the tub?
@GrowAndEatThis2 жыл бұрын
Lots of holes in the bottom and on the sides right down by the bottom. Drainage is really important.

Do you ever have to deal with ants? Do you find potatoes growing closer to the bottom of the container or they normally come out in bunches like that because of the kind of potato it is? 🧐
@GrowAndEatThis2 жыл бұрын
Ants have not been a problem. Sweet potatoes are strange. This year they are growing in bunches up and down like bananas. Some years they grow sideways. No idea what triggers which way.
@GrowAndEatThis2 жыл бұрын
Some years they are twisted and wrap around the container. Some years they grow sideways. This year, in all the different types of containers, the sweet potatoes grew down. Same containers, same soil. No idea what causes the differences. Has to be water. We started very wet and then went terribly dry. Was watering every day and still the containers were dry as a bone.
