Such a beautiful song... have not heard it in many years, it also brought me to tears... Takes me back to 1968 when I was 16...I meet the love of my life, he was Scots not Irish, and we meet in a news agency where I worked... we were engaged to marry when I was 18 but when I was 20 ... sadly he was reckless with my heart, which I know he has always regretted, he always loved me and I him ! we both married others !! the moral of the story is don’t be reckless with some ones heart, It changes your destiny.

Yes, I was the reckless one back in 69' and like you married, twice, but have always regretted my wayward path in those early years, it has also cost me dearly. Now there is no path back to the lifelong love of my life. Youth is sometimes wasted on the young.

the singer is Scottish, Davey Arthur, if that helps.

The string arrangement on this version is somewhat fuller and richer than the other "ensemble/quartet" version out there....and the song fully deserves this treatment. It's an emotive song WITHOUT any strings...but by god.....this version lifts it to an otherworldly level. What an enchantingly beautiful song this is.
@jonhouston5372 Жыл бұрын
About the "fuller and richer" aspect: this version of Finbar's evocative song is from the album "The Best of The Furys and Davey Arthur", and the arrangement quality is typical of the entire collection. By my estimation, this album is a later rework of their best "tug-your-heartstrings" songs, which features a gloriously full, top-notch, string orchestra as their accompaniment. I regularly listen to the entire playlist via my earphones -- essentially whenever I need an emotional "fix" 😢
