I was touched with the closing of this video. As Mina said, you never know if you will see that family member again in your life. I recently lost my daughter, she was only 25 and full of life. We are a very close family, and when we are together, it’s extremely hard to go back to our homes, until we meet again on special occasions. Don’t take time with your loved ones for granted, cherish every moment. I Love Mina’s spirit, blessings.

Thank you so much for sharing your culture and family with us. The Koreans love of family and respect for elders is to be admired and aspired to. I just love your videos. Question if you have the time...I have always wanted to travel to Asia, Korea and Japan in particular. I have terrible food allergies and have to keep to a vegan, gluten free diet to stay out of the hospital. I cook a lot of Asian foods at home, using vegan cookbooks by ethnic authors, so I know the food is there. How would I find establishments preparing food I could eat???? Thanks love your videos.

You should watch chonunmigooksaram. She is vegan and goes to lots of vegan places in Korea. She also shows tutorials on food and I just love her. She also lives in Korea. Hope this helped! :)

My grandparents have been eating vegetarian, gluten free meals for all of their homecooked meals :) They don't do this for a particular allergy or for any beliefs. Korean food is just traditionally pretty vegetarian / gluten. If you want to make it vegan, just find an egg substitute for the Korean dishes. Look for Korean banchans and also Korean buddhist monk food too :) They are vegan and gluten free. ^_^

***** My grandparents are from a much older, traditional generation. Growing up, they rarely ate meat. They are not used to eating meat more than once a year. So they don't do it, and they are healthy and eating very variously. They aren't 'particular' in any way either. Veganism would be very hard, but vegetarian should be quite easy. Meat is a pretty recent thing. It's definitely not as rooted as european cuisine, in terms of meat anyways.

Hi! I'm part Polish (American) and in Poland, there is a tradition called" Dziady" which is literally "Grandfather's" (loosely translated as "Ancestors". It falls right after American Halloween, on Feast of All Saints/All Souls (Christians kind of appropriated it.) The whole family goes to the cemetery, where the family members are buried, and bring a picnic, and clean up the weeds, trim the flowers, and bring a special candle called a "Znicze" is lit, (these types of candles are ONLY used at the Cemetery. The lit candle is for the remembrance of the Ancestors. Again, like you have, we leave out plates of food for the "house spirits" and "nature spirits". The harvest festival is in August, where the grains is cut, but since there are a series of harvests in the Autumn, (fruits and vegetables, last of the grains, grapes for wine and "crush" (winemaking). Many cultures share the same ideas behind what we consider the Agricultural Cycle and Humanity's role in it, in addition to celebrating our passed loved ones. Wow! How interesting.... In Mexico we have something similar, food offerings to our death relatives. That's on Oct 2, the day of the death. Some make an "altar", a place where we place a pic of our beloved relatives who are gone to a better place, and a plate of their fav food, sweet bread and some decorations. Some people like my fam, we would go to the cemetery instead. We would take food, share some on a plate for the member we are visiting, and have a "picnic" per say and eat with them... This would be during the morning, after mass. People mistake this tradition with something more darker and sinister, that's not the case. We celebrate the departure of our lost loved ones, nothing else. Thank you for sharing your roots and culture 😁😁😁👍🏼

I realised that Korean culture has so much similarities with my culture in Malaysia. sometimes we use old calander or newspaper to absorb the extra oil. we also cook on the floor if we have so much things to cook especially during festival celebration.

I believe tis is commonly practiced culture everywhere not just limit to Asia just that some countries forgotten to keep this culture. You must know, Korea was last country in Asia to open up for foreigners (little over 100 years ago) so many traditional culture is still retained much more well preserved in more authentic forms.

I can relate to what she feels at the end , i’d always have separation anxiety whenever i have to leave from an event where my family gathers for a special event. All the good talks and laughs would soon be replaced with sadness and loneliness. I just wish there’d be a time where we all wouldn’t have to leave and just stay as a solid family

17:30 I felt the same way when I leave my mums side of the family in the U.K. The last time I saw my grandmother was back in 2003 (she passed in 2013) when she came here to Oregon to visit. But I haven't been back to the U.K. Since 97. It's so hard. My mum married my American dad and left her whole family back in 72. I've appreciated being half British and half American but I sure miss my moms side everyday. I cried like a baby when I said Goodbye back in 97.😭😭😢 So I feel you my sis❤️❤️❤️
