Great podcast and love the make 9 concept. My knitting journey has many WIP. I think finishing 1 before I start a new 1 can be a 9 spot. You are helping me look forward to 2025 without guilt over WIPs❤

I really love your approach to the Make 9 with an emphasis on what you want to learn rather than the finished item. I got two very time consuming projects finished this year and for 2025 I’m excited to cast on all the new things I’ve been neglecting 😄

I have finally finished a sock after 3 years of starting, frogging and stopping.

New Year's resolution to make socks. Started one sock with 9" circular and another with magic loop. Both going okay but think I may end up liking 9-in circular better. Also going to try with dp needles before making a final decision of my preference. Best of luck to you!

I really appreciate your podcast and the way you talk about all your crafts as if each of them is just so delicious, you cannot wait to take a bite. I thought the in person SG knit group might be lost forever when SG moved, and it was not! So grateful to meet up regularly with such a great group and be inspired by what everyone is making. I finished 50 hand knitted projects this year, some big, some teeny, mostly socks and shawls with other things thrown in, some gifts, some for myself. The knitting never ends:) Happy 2024 to you, Charlotte, your family and your SG family.

I have finished all my old work in process (wip) projects, except a blanket that was started in 2004. That blanket will be my project for 2025 to finish. For the past 3 years I have been working an old project and then a new project, then an old project, etc. In 2025 I will be starting the year with one new project and the old wip blanket, but each month I will allow myself one new project while working on the old wip blanket.

That's a GREAT idea to alternate between finishing old projects and mixing it up with new projects!

I am hoping to complete my Christmas chaos socks in 2025. I've spun half the red so far... Only got the rest of the red, the greens, the black, white, tan and pale green to go! And I haven't done the coding for the chaos yet but that shouldn't be too hard. After all that the knitting should be relatively easy. (I suspect I'll have enough wool to make a couple of pairs.) Then I ordered some sock yarn. The white says that it's ready to dye. I know nothing about dyeing. Maybe I'll make some white socks! (I also ordered a ball with a long colour gradient.) And I'm learning to spin on a spindle, when I have spun up the fleece I'm using for that it's going to be knitted into a simple, textural hat. Then there's finishing work on the elf sock pattern. Inventing a pattern and writing it down are two different things! There's a whole heap of handspun in my stash, I'm thinking of making an "as you like it" shawl with that.

My make 9 for next year: knit a sweater, try a new sock pattern, crochet hexi lapghan, ID projects for my hand spun, weave placemats, spin my fiber stash, process alpaca blanket, practice carding and combing preps. I have a big non-maker goals this year (hike the Appalachian Trail) so I’m okay if these don’t all happen.

I am definitely getting back into rigid heddle weaving next year, after completing my first project in 4 years. I'm going to be signing back up to the School to follow your classes, which I massively enjoyed when I was learning to spin. In 2025 I want to learn double heddle Krokbragd on my rigid heddle, and also double weave. My goal this year was to knit a jumper with cables, which I accomplished and I'm onto my second cable piece now. Love your channel, and seeing absolutely all of your projects whatever craft they are.

Listening to this I was thinking I might add a wild card to my make 9 as a space for the unexpected things that are sure to crop up.

love all your variations on the hat - tempting me to try it! I found myself learning tunisian crochet in the round this year and LOVE it. love the textures I can get with it, love using a double ended hook... there's just something about it that is easy and relaxed. :)

I loved doing my make Nine. I need to do a recap on it!! The project that I’m proud of is making socks using my CSM!! I learned so much and made a bunch of socks. Finish those socks and wear them! I love mine!! I can’t wait to learn different styles of socks.

I enjoyed this podcast. Thank you so much for sharing. I am inspired to look at my crafting goals less like a to-do list and more like learning and fun. I hope to learn to steek and also pick up my embroidery, bookmaking and may even try that Jethro cardigan (although I want a solid knitted back), definitely more colorwork and a couple vests. All without pressure or critical self talk. Happy crafting.

My favorite project was taking 6 cans of alpaca yarn and making a scarf for my daughter for Christmas. I held it together with silk and angora yarn

Hi Felicia. Can I ask where you get your bfl/silk blend? It sounds great! Thanks.

Thank you! I've been using this BFL+Silk DK yarn for the hats: shop.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/products/bflsilk-dk and this finer version of the same yarn for sweaters: shop.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/products/bflsilk-fine. And then we have the same BFL/silk blend in a spinning fibre where I can spin my own yarn to match the commercial yarn: shop.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/products/bfl-silk :)

There are so many things I wanna try, but I find myself and my ADHD brain going in too many directions. So I think I will try a small weaving project by building myself just a little weaving frame like we had when we were kids. And then taking whatever I weave and making a quilt out of it.

That is a great idea! You might have a look at Schacht's Zoom Loom... it's a pin loom where you can weave squares and then sew them together!

I started going through my stash of hand spun wool and began making double weave blankets for my 13.7 grandchildren. I have managed to get 6 done on my 45” 4 shaft floor loom. Then I found a great condition 36” 4 shaft Leclerc with bench for $150 so it now has cotton on it for tea towels. Then my sister found her 35 year old standard knitting machine in the attic and gave it to me… well of course I had to figure it out and make myself a shirt. I have an alpaca fleece down the basement that needs to be cleaned , one leather snowmobile mitt that I need to finish, a leather jacket that is almost done and … so many projects, so little time.

Yeah, what's the point knitting socks if you don't wear them 😂. Wear them please! I only did half of my planned porject...and Girdwood was definitley not one of them. It turned out to be my favourite of this year though! By the way, it's done just need blocking!
