Of the many Musical Concerts I've been fortunate to attend for years in NYC, their Performance at Carnegie Hall ranked at the Top along with my other favorite, Aretha Franklin at Radio City. Someone made a Comment here "If this is what Angels sound like, then I am no longer afraid". wow. couldn't agree more and had to repeat that!

Simply gorgeous. Amazing arrangement masterfully sung. It is a quasi minimalist style derived from gospel singing traditions of black churches. It is hypnotic and ecstatic.

Oh my God, I performed a search for "acapella Motherless Child" and ran into this. I've searched for this group for years. I've watched them in the 90's on PBS back in New Orleans and I have STILL have them on my old VHS tapes(Yes still have them, yet don't watch them) LOL. I don't know the title of the song that has been playing in my head for years, but I know a few words were, "When we have so much, how can any child be hungry..........oh no not even one child-------, " Hello Sweet Honey, God Bless you all.

This is pure, perfect in its delivery. Like they captured the exact moment spirituals in the dark climbed up into the light of hometown church gospel. This is the answer to how many angels can sing on the head of a pin.

Thank you Sweet Honey. YOU ARE A BLESSING. Your voices & your worship is healing to my soul. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.This really touches me deep in my Soul. I lost my Mom 4 years ago. Feels like she past away yesterday. I miss her so much. She visits me in my sleep. Besides GOD, she is the only person I know who really loves me. I can't wait to see her in heaven.

I wish that you would embed Shirley so that I can understand everything she signs. I am Deaf, I use a Cochlear Implant, but since I grew up hearing, I struggle with how different things sound to what my brain says things should sound like. You are the only group that integrates ALL of us, Hearing, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf, and gives us all access to you. Thank You. Hugs to Shirley, too.

I saw Sweet Honey in The Rock about 35 years ago in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. My sister-in-laws The Mills Sisters (4 First Nations sisters -Larrakia and Kunuragkan ) were the singers that came on before Sweet Honey. Sorry, I have completely forgotton what you call the band or singers who come on first.

If u got kicked out da projects when u turned 18 with no degree, no career, no trust fund, no real financial future, no legal way to pay da rent, nowhere to call home with American contemporary living standards, than u just might b a motherless child.
@sarkkoa9 жыл бұрын
A lot of parents don't have the heart to show their child the eviction notice. They just kick em out. The "child" isn't given the respect from the landlord to have the letter addressed to them. A lot of kids squab with the wrong person; the parent!

@qrvt Would you like one of us to at least write out the specific lyrics to this arrangement, qrvt? I've been trying to Go*gle it for us, with no luck so far--it shouldn't be that hard to type out, and wow. We would all benefit from that! Bless you. One of my best old friends was Hearing when we were in College together, and no longer... Perhaps we can all get together--if I have extremely-very bad luck, I, a currently-sighted girl, will not be sighted much longer! Bless you... -tear-
