I saw Sweets is releasing another round of these tomorrow, and I was wondering if I should buy one. Lunars are not my strong suit and I've been looking around for the absolute best lunar-honed kendama I can get. Do you think this would be a good option for me to improve my lunars, or have you brought other kendamas (below 75$) that are even better for lunars? Thanks

The decade mod is a great kendama for lunars! I think you'll be really happy with it. There are a few other damas that are great for lunars too, the Sol shape is great too, as well as the squab from analog. One of the reasons I would suggest the analog squab is because Analog is still a small brand and I know if you message them on instagram and ask to give you one with really good weight balance for lunars (heavy serado, lighter sword) they'll definitely go through and find one for you with good weights that will help you a lot. Sol will most likely do the same! Sweets more than likely won't since all of their damas are pre packaged and they also get A LOT of orders, so they don't have the time to weigh a bunch just for you.The weight balance of a Ken has just as much effect as the shape does when it comes to lunar balance, so the upside with buying a dama from a smaller company is that you can request specific weights and more often than not, they'll do the best they can to hook you up 👍 hope that helps!

I have a question and I was hoping you could give your opinion on it. So, I really want to try the new sweets boost shape so I was going to get the new nick galleger champ mod when it drops. But then I found out that there is going to be no balance hole. I have never played a Kendama with a balance hole and I really want to so now I don’t know whether or not to get the new champ mod. Do you think that a balance hole makes a huge difference, or will the boost shape still be honed for lunars without it? Sorry for the long comment :)

I think you'll be fine without the base hole tbh! I think it does help a little, but the shape is still great without it. And if one of the best players in the world is okay with not having one on their pro mod, that should tell you a lot! If you like the design, I'd say definitely you should get one 👍

Checkout Sweets Kendamas' website! a lot of their prime kendamas are on sale for around $20. They also have a model they sell in Target stores as well that's pretty good. I actually made a video on the Target kendamas a while back, so check that video out if you want some more information on them! Hope that helped

It’s “wen-gey” it’s also used in guitars a lot, especially bass guitar. Also Terra & mugen have done similar designs with the Sarado being different woods and mugen did a lot with the multi wood Tamas

That's awesome! I had no idea it was a popular wood in guitars. I've seen Terra and Mugen both do this, but only with very limited and expensive hand turned models. I've never seen a company make a design like this so available and accessible to people. Also, I've never seen a design with this much practicality. All the woods were selected because of a trait they have that increases playability. Most other kens I've seen use different woods almost purely for the look and design of the ken

The one I unboxed in the video is sticky clear. I think both paints are great! Sweets' cushion clear is unlike anything else though, and I'd definitely recommend trying it out if you can. It's super durable and tacky. I think sticky clear looks better than cushion, but performance wise the cushion clear I think is stickier and will hold up better over time
