@fungalbird - Good feedback! Thanks as well for pointing out our error, we've corrected the comments now: the Rebel 30 combines EL34s and 6V6s, not 6L6s.

Doh! Wrong still! EL 84s & 6v6s not 34s or 6L6s,,, thats the Renegade !

That speaker emulation sounds sweet. I have the Rebel 20 which lacks that feature and reverb, although it does sound very good. I might want to upgrade.

I use a Rivera 1x12 closed-back cab w/ a higher wattage speaker, and it's super clean. I actually use a bit of an overdrive on Ch. 1, because it's too clean! Very chimey. Plus, be sure to put the power dial for Ch. 1 all the way to 20 watts -- that will give you more clean headroom.

That's a really nice sounding direct out.

@reesho - Good feedback. Just curious, have you tried dialing down your guitar's volume knob? Wondering if that would help clean things up with your setup.

The amp is fairly versatile, but what they DON'T tell you (and I consider to be the biggest shortcoming), is that although these sound great, if you step 2 feet off axis either left or right you can't hear the amp anymore. I don't know if it's aproblem with their speaker design or what the deal is, but if you're gonna use one of these onstage, You'd better bring a cab that you KNOW you can hear...

The 30 is a great amp! While the direct out is "ok" I prefer a mic on the cab. You can see it in action if you check out my vid channel (tho sadly, the clips are somewhat lo-fi). Nothing touches it considering the Tone/Punch/Cost/Size/Weight ratio!!!!!

When using the Speaker Output do you still need a speaker cabinet plugged up to handle the load? Or does it have a load box?

Wish Egnater would make an amp in the high gain territory

If I was to go Egnater I'd go with the Renegade Head, EL-34 Tubes :-) I have an Egnater 2x12 Cab that has fantastic tone, it blows away my Mesa 4x12 with V-30's with more bottom end.

Ok, Mitch. That amp looks awesome! But, I have a couple of questions. When you pan to one set of power tubes, do the others stay hot in a sort of standby mode? I would worry playing for hours with a set of tubes just staying hot and unused. Also, when you were recording this direct, did you have some kind of in ear monitor or are you able to run direct with the speakers working at the same time? Great demo! Thanks!

sounds like he wants to play some l.a. guns at times. rip & tear song. lets see him playing that with a drummer, and bassist. what size were the speakers in the cabinet? and how many in each one? 1 or 4? I missed that part.

so i could definately gig in a loud band with this thing? and also does the gain thin out when you crank it?

Seemed like 20 seconds of clean tone review - like most amp demos, not enough time on the clean base tone - for me anyway.

The only way to get a truly good sound out of Egnaters, is to e.q. them. Leave all knobs at "5", kinda shitty. Tune the e.q. in right, awesomeness.
@shawnreese65385 жыл бұрын
you can get a huge range of tones from this, it's all about the glass. You gotta experiment with different tubes, settings, pedals and axes with this amp, more-so than with other amps. You will be rewarded. It's like a nearly blank palette IMO. A nearly great, maybe great one. The stock config is Skynyrd clean-hot grit done well, but you can do lots of other stuff with it. Sounds like it's going to fry, but it won't heheh. 90% of the raps that any brand of amp takes is two or three qc defective components, and about 100 mistakes that people experimenting with their amps mess up... wrong/defective tubes, no load, mods, etc.

How the heck can you show and tell the difference between el 84 and 6v6 power amp output when you are recording this videos audio using the direct out so called "speaker emulator"? That is a major foul for the credibilty of this video, and how much did the audio get manipulated in the digital post production use of Pro Tools? Thats ok its the way the amp "feels" to the performer as the amp is an extension of the instrument that he is playing live whether it is laying a track or up on stage. If the amp feels good to you , its all good. I will say it is an interesting amp to play. Definately more of a metal amp than a clean amp by far. But still alot of versatility. The digital reverb is very different from a real spring reverb. Certainly much more synthetic. This amp is ok but has some issues as to overall durability. It contains a ton of wiring on the inside with unusually high amount of jumpers everywhere. The lead dressing is not too impressive and make this amp very time comsuming to carry out the most basic repairs or replacement of components. The jumpers are a weak link and can be a headache of intermittent connections as the amp ages and the circuit boards subject to the expansion and contraction of the many hot and cold thermal cycles. I dont have a problem with pcb amps wben implemented correctly. But when it is constructed with so many jumpers and add to that the circuit board mounted tube sockets, an amp like this is more closely resemblance to a more affordable entry level amplifier such as you may expect from say a Crate or similiar consumer style amp. Not what should be expected as you begin to approach this price point or for unique quasi boutique semi pro gear.... It works and has some unique tones , especially those metal and brown sounds. However it isnt likely to go the distance as most el 84 amps require more regular maintainence. One big positive here is that they make it ez to bias with internal test points to plug your probes into, ala voltage drop across cathode resistor along with bias pots labeled with suggested current settings. Current setting mean nothing without knowing plate voltage and voltage is dynamically affected by current. Some of you golden screwdriver types shouldnt play inside this one. This amp can turn into a nightmare quickly. Buy this amp if you enjoy alot of novelty and/or you big 18watter kinda guy. But realize that it is not a hardened road amp. Otherwise buy many of them to take on the road. Better yet get an endorsement.
