Kudos to everyone who wants to learn and improve. Like the lottery winners, a rare few can be self taught and become a complete drummer. Knowledge is power. Rock on!

I like the idea of practicing in front of a mirror. Definitely gonna try that and see what my right side is doing compared to my left and see what happens when I make changes.

That technique perspective was fantastic. Every extreme metal drum video between maybe 2000-2014 didn't help much, as they all preached thumb on top grip. I was completely stuck until I read Victor Wooten's book (The Music Lesson?) & played completely thumb on side with my kit flipped lefty. I guess I needed to develop my grip tension more, & I've gotten much better & comfortable since then.

Body awareness is so important... Well, self awareness in general is something more people should probably work on, lol

All 26 standard American drum rudiments should be played with traditional grip.... And then when you play songs on the kit, you can always switch to match grip.....Let's see you try that.

@@DavidOakesMusic"David Oakes Music" ??? You should be proficient with both grips. Bet You're not even a drummer. Send me a video of yourself soloing with traditional grip, Dave. Or better yet, a video showing us the rudiments using both grips....Bet you can't. Just as I thought.....
