i never thought it would happen again in my life time, since the demise of SRV, but a new blues game changer is once again amongst us. He will influence the world of guitar for decades to come. But the whole band is so fresh and exciting. So cool. At long last.

This kid has wisdom beyond his years. He's so respectful of the interviewer and grateful to all the amazing people who have passed on knowledge to him. He has true southern charm and doesn't over talk, he's quite a deep thinker and it shows before he speaks. He truly is an old soul in so many positive ways... his music included. It's great to see this side of such an amazing musician, songwriter and band leader. I'm looking forward to seeing how brightly the future shines for marcus lee king. If it's anything like the present, it's gonna be REAL bright.

Big thumbs up for Mitch Gallagher for these great interviews. As a guitar player i really appreciate the way Mitch shows interest and knowledge about the songs, playing and career of whoever he is interviewing. Great attention to detail and well mannered, a breath of fresh air. Also Marcus King is King, it even says in his last name!

My son and I found a connection with music. I played D1 college football and pressed my son to play. Around the beginning of HS, he came to me and told me he wanted to pursue music. I've told my kids to do what makes your heart sing in life. We're both big dudes and I didn't get it initially. Now, we jam together and music has created a special bond that football never could. You can play a guitar until the day you die. It's a gift if you respect it and work at it. What a lesson. The fact that MK consistently speaks of his family influence is so cool. It's a special thing when someone recognizes their gift, remains humble and works their ass off at it. That's MK. This guy is on another level.

Although I had first heard The Marcus King Band about six months ago I'd never seen them off stage. Hearing Mr. Gallagher interview Mr. King was almost as satisfying as listening to the band play shows. When Mr. King spoke to where he learned what he has learned, two things stuck out to me that I believe are the marks of those that shine with a brilliance that sets them apart from the masses. The first was in response to Mr. Gallagher's question he asked about Mr. Kings phrasing and Mr. King expressed the 'most valuable lesson he ever got' was to breathe, as in 'knowing when to not play' during his guitar solos, like he heard vocalists (Janis Joplin) and others he was listening to do while developing his style. That is something many musicians never learn and never do when playing, and in my learned opinion it is, as Mr. King stated, THE single most important element of nearly any and all music that one can learn. Having and utilizing that separated the wheat from the chaff. And that he actually listens? That is the second thing about Mr. King that struck me, as most his age seem to listen but don't hear. If this young talent keeps his humility, his joy of playing and performing, and his spirit of learning things new to him? He will become a legend!

Marcus is a great player and even better singer. I wouldn’t put him in the player class of an SRV but he’s really good and with time he’ll only get better. I relate to him on the pinky thing. I’ve never really utilized my pinky in my lead playing at all. If I’m in a zone and not thinking about it I’ll start to get flashy with it but the second I think about it I screw it up. Love this young man’s sound and style and hope he’s around for a good long while

Need not worry about the pinky lad, that's a technicians obsession. If you watch most of the modern blues/rock greats Clapton, Hendrix, Gilmore, SRV, Santana etc. all have a 3 finger position as their base. Django Reinhardt had only two fingers.
