Do you all not understand how Craviotto works? The equivalent to Craviotto is a person walking to a Rolls Royce dealership. That person knows exactly what they want, and they want a Rolls Royce. At this level, you are paying for everything that is associated with building this kit. You don't need to own one, I know many drummers that are just fine with their Stage Customs, their MCXs, their Saturns, their Classic Maples. If you're bellyaching about the price of this kit or equivalent high end drum kits (PHX, Star) then these kits are not for you. Great sounding drums, especially that bass drum! Great video. Thank you!

Other kits sound just as good for a fraction of the price. They just lack the aesthetics.

@@scottlowell493 dont forget build quality, or craftsmanship, or where their wood comes from. the stage custom is birch. but so is a recording custom... huuuge price difference.

Instead of talking about who's great and who is not, these videos are intended to shed lite on these incredible instruments that people like Nick are demoing for our pleasure. ( by the way Sweetwater does a fantastic job explaining the gear there demoing and the sound quality is off the charts). In the future may we all keep are comments to in this case the drum set. The quality,the sound, and the features. That's the views that matter , doesn't it???

I don't necessarily disagree David but keep in mind that the world is full of people. You will always have Yin and Yang. They are not in conflict with one another. Everything has its purpose. Some comments seem bitter, while others seem sweet. Life is full of flavors, colors, textures...just go with the flow dude. Enjoy the drums and let the rest go. Peace.

These are great high tune jazz drums. Beautiful. I want. Really bad I just don’t play enough pure jazz gigs to justify. I’ve noticed a few Nashville guys playing Craviotta in bigger sizes. For rock I’d get a big old maple or vista lite Ludwig or possibly SJC. For pop alternative etc C and C make a great kit. Tamas star drums are crazy good. I’m partial to the Brooklyn Gretch or USA custom. It’s a great time to be a pro drummer. I will say this. I hire out play a lot of Church gigs inside. Cage basically. I’ve seen expensive drums sound like crap and cheap drums sound great. Tuning, heads and especially how they are mic’d up is all the difference.

crymzynplague its not worth every penny if you don't know how to use them! You probably would be better off to get a practice pad and learn rudiments, and stay away from the drum kit! Good advice!
@copperlineconnectors2455
@copperlineconnectors2455 6 жыл бұрын
crymzynplague if that is you in those videos, get you a practice pad, metronome, and a rudimintal book. Try learning some sticking pattern, take it slow. But definitely stay away from a drum kit, not being rude, just honest. Take constructive criticism with a positive attitude, and you may can learn. If not you will continue to be lost in the fog.
@jameskirkbydrums
@jameskirkbydrums 6 жыл бұрын
yep thats me in the vids :) ive got several pads and numerous rudiment books, ive studied them and can play them proficiently :) i just choose not to bother with the fancy ones for most of the stuff i play because the audience and non-drummer bandmates arent going to know or care as long as they audience enjoy it. in constantly learning so im becoming a better muso every day :)
@copperlineconnectors2455
@copperlineconnectors2455 6 жыл бұрын
crymzynplague there is nothing rudimintal about anything you are doing. Have you ever played to a click? You need to try it. Not trying to be rude here, but nothing you are playing makes sense. You definitely need some help. Take my advice in a positive way. I don't usually comment on videos. But I've worked with some of the biggest country acts. And still work with some of the best session guys. I've been doing this 45 years, and practice rudimintal figures everyday. So I know what I'm talking about. It takes a lot of skilled work to play at a pro level. I'm not trying to bust your chops. Just trying to help, I've helped a lot of students achieve their goals. If you listen and take constructive criticism positive, it might just help!

Why are solid shell drums so rare and expensive, while solid wood is standard in the world of guitars and other stringed instruments and an all-solid guitar can be had for not much money (well, about £1,000 or less)? No serious guitarist would be seen dead with a ply acoustic guitar (although ES-335s are 3-ply), but even Tama Star drums are plywood and top professional drummers play them all the time.

The difference from one drum (a wood cylinder) versus another (similarly sized wood cylinder) is 80% dependent on the type of head and tuning. I haven't heard a bad, or even mediocre kit on this channel yet. That said, Craviottos sound nice, but I've never heard anything that would make me want to pay $6,500 for a set. Also, that is the most god awful looking tom mount in the industry. Always wondered what they were thinking when they came up with that intrusive, crappy looking, matte finished mount for a high end drum kit.

I’ve never liked Craviotto’s diamond theme, personally. And you’re right - they’re insanely expensive. For that price, I’d have a larger Reference Pure or Recording Custom, with hardware, maybe even an SQ2. But good Lord, those sound beautiful together. One thing’s for sure: Those are going to hold their value, unlike so many of the similarly priced one-off custom sets from guys like SJC, Truth, and others. Whatever works for the drummer, I guess. Cheers!

Mike Davis you are absolutely right. My point was that, beside being able to afford this drum set then fine. As struggling drummer like most of drummers around the globe, I am more about the value of the drum manufacturer can provide for us with a superb quality drumset without the highest price. From my experience, I would gladly own a Tama Starclassic drumset again. I know that is biased opinion, but at least it's based from my previous great experience. I hope that I have explained myself for my comment Mike, especially to those ones they were quick to judge about my opinion. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Omer Idrizi Couldn't agree more, Omer. I prefer Pearl myself. For that kind of $$, you could have a lot more gear that sounds great and will last from just about any other big company. I guess what I was really trying to say is that, if I were going to buy custom drums, which I wouldn't ever do, I'd consider these. But there's much better value to be had out there, that's for sure.
