I wonder how many products I buy from Sweetwater, just because I like Mitch? Quite a few. Great company too. Never an issue with years of great service. Thanks all!!

Hey Mitch. Nice vid, just one thing... When you want to use the Unison feature, it has to be on the input stage, not an insert as you have it here. Using the plug in on an insert will still give you a software emulation of that hardware but using a Unison plug in on the actual INPUT stage (which is above the insert section on the first four channels) will actually change the behaviour of the Apollos physical preamps to emulate the hardware input stage of the selected plug in. That's the difference between using Unison and just using a regular instance of the plugin. It alters the character of the hardware before AD as well as affecting the signal once it's past your converters. Cheers from a former fellow Sweetwater guy! Paul Hird

in this video, you placed the 1073 as Insert, not in the Unison/Preamp slot, which can be found just underneath the gain knob of the first four channels in the Console (Overview view selected). Once you plug in a preamp sim there, the colour around the preamp knob on your Apollo should turn orange, indicating that Unison is active (and the knob is now controlling the plugin).

I received my apollo 8p quad back from Universal Audio. They reported that they replaced the analog board,(non-specific), it turned out to be worse than when I returned it. I gave UA full remote access to the unit. Nothing wrong with my hardware or software with I already knew. I'd recommend if you have a problem with UA gear to bypass their customer support and go strait to your retailer. I was able to get a brand new unit from the retailer I purchased it from. So far it has pre-amp and monitor noise. I will give it a full test this weekend. I'm concerned that these are bad units for whatever reason. Maybe bad boards or design. This my account for the recent 20% price reduction in less than a year since the new release. It's insulting to think that I paid 3k for a unit that is now $600 cheaper in less than a year.

The Neve 1073 preamp was not used to its full extent in this video. It is not using the "Unison technology" when placed as an "insert". You actually need to go to the "input" tab and put the 1073 there, or it just acts like a standard insert. I made this mistake myself when I first upgraded to version 8 of the software...
@GuyKachel
@GuyKachel 9 жыл бұрын
+jimmy Yes you are on to it jimmy I discovered the same thing yesterday. Mitch used the insert and not the Unison input. To see inputs you have to have....Overview or Input view selected. Also you can hear the relay activate when using inputs.

Also, the eq he was applying with the 1073 wasn't heard because he didn't engage the "eq" button on the plugin.

You have the 1073 on the insert and not the unison. It's not using the unison technology in your demonstration. Also, if you link the channels, is putting 1 instance of 1073 ok for both? You only have 1 instance of 1073 running on mic input 1.

All, I have a couple of questions: - When running plugins in Console 2, does the DSP processing occurs in the Apollo 8 ONLY without compromising the CPU of your computer? - I saw a demo in KZbin, the demo shows that the plugins were used inside the DAW (Pro tools). If the plugins are used in the DAW, does the DSP processing still occurs in the Apollo 8 or at this time you are using computer CPU? Thanks

Do the UAD plugins get committed to the ProTools track or is it like RTAS where you can turn them on or off (bypass) any time after tracking?

so I know this has 4 unison preamps, but it also has the 2 hi-z inputs in the front, and the 4 line level inputs on the back. So, how many tracks can I actually record simultaneously? 4? 8? 10? I am debating between this and the Apollo 8p, but that's a bit out of my price range.

With the four mic pres, the two hi zs and the four line ins does that give you 10 simultaneous inputs or does using the hi zs cut off the mic pres like it does on the Apollo Twin? How many inputs can be recorded at the same time is what I am asking.

Hello Mitch. I want a Apollo Interface. But i have a question. I use a Yamaha Motif XS 8 with Logic ProX and Cubase Pro 8. Next Week i have my new Mac Pro with 64Gb Ram and Thunderbolt 2 Ports. The Motif XS has Firewire. Now i want change my old Komplete Kontrol 6 Interface to a professional Interface. Witch Interface is the best for my Configuration? Many thanks for Your help!

Mitch, I wanna know if I can (I suspect I can) use this interface with Logic Pro instead of Console and other software you were using in your demo. I assume it would behave exactly the same,
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, John! Great question! You actually would use the Console in conjunction with Logic. The Console monitors and controls your inputs that feed into your DAW. Logic works great with these interfaces! I use Logic quite a bit with my Apollo, and love it. I'd love to chat with you more about it, if you'd like to give me a shout at the contact info below.
