Thanks Don. Very informative. I appreciate the fact that you showed what the box did instead of the last video I watched on this pedal which consisted of the reviewer showing me how many generic blues riffs he almost knew.

Good demo. I get so tired of somebody focused on showing off how fast they can play instead of focusing on demoing the effect. Good job.

This is such an excellent demo. You did a really awesome job of "playing the sound" which is so important with electronics. Thank you! whoa some other worldly patches at the end. cool!

The zoom pedal 505 I have as a kid always does Justice with chorus sounds love the sounds they make. This one looks solid and fun without the plastic of the 505! 😯

Wouldn't you be happy to know it now has a Boss Slow Gear clone? No volume swells needed--but you did a fantastic job on the intro anyway😁

The presets aren't really where this pedal is at. Looking at the effects individually is almost mind boggling (a lot of effects) but it's very easy to use. Even the picture of where the pedals "knobs" are set updates.

Chaining 6 of the 86 models would make this an ideal practice tool for myself. Unfortunately owners that have reviewed this pedal have reported system error messages. Something along the lines of DSP LIMIT REACHED. This is a deal breaker for me.

I am totally attracted by this pedal. I asked for something similar that handles all types of delays, reverbs and modulators, and they said that nobody else came with this idea.. I wanted exactly this, but better quality. It has some sorts of delay that I was looking for, it has a dozen of things my gt10 doesnt have.. I wanted some sort of delay-reverb machine. That particle delay and some other stuff in this unit is really what I want. Any advice?

Eventide h9 but it’ll cost you some big cash and also it’s power requirement is absurd. Lol no one in the market making a pedal with all those good sounds and versatile enough to fit in a small size.

I have on my pedal board the Chorus essemble and the DD3 both from Boss, would it be wise to sell these two pedals and replace them with the MS 70 zoom?

Hey!!! Just wondering how the pitch shift effect handles chords. You only spent a few seconds on it so it was hard to tell. Is it really good, so so, or goofy and wanky like the Digitech Whammy (old version)?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 9 жыл бұрын
Smedley Butler Jr. As you probably know, using a pitch-shift effect to generate a static interval, Major Third or Perfect Fifth for example, could possibly give you some unintended notes in your chord; especially if you’re playing more than two notes. The MS-70CDR also does intelligent pitch shifting which is an interval generated by a key signature, C# Major for example. That may be more appropriate, musically speaking. OK, music theory aside, I think your question is more about the sonic characteristics of the pitch-shifting in the MS-70CDR. Zoom put a lot of processing power into making this unit a multi-effect pedal that will do more than one effect at a time. The pitch-shifting is fine in the MS-70CDR, but if you’re looking for really great-sounding, accurate pitch-shifting, I would check out the electro-harmonix Pitch Fork. The Eventide Pitch Factor and H9 also have killer intelligent pitch-shifting. Thanks for watching! - Don Carr

Hi! that seems to be an awesome pedal!! One question about the powering: I know it says 500mA while powering with a 9V DC supply, but does it really need that much current?? I mean, If it runs 5h on 3V battery power... My supply can do 120mA which could be doubled to 240mA by using 2 outputs. But I'd prefer using one channel only...
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 8 жыл бұрын
Toni Razz-I follow your logic but I tend to err to the side of caution when it comes to powering pedals. Not supplying a pedal with enough mA can cause it to misbehave and even possibly damage it, especially a digital pedal. The owner's manual says that the MS-70CDR needs 500mA. You could power it with a dedicated supply or there are quite a few brick-style power supplies that have 500mA outlets, specifically for digital pedals. Thanks for your question! Don Carr

Ok thanks for your answer. But buying a new power brick just for this pedal seems a bit pointless to me. They're ridiculously overpriced, and I'm running out of space lol. From that point of view, I have to look further.

I definitely would, this beats every other line pedal because it's got literally thousands of sounds for the price of one Boss RV-6 (not that I dislike Boss, I love it, but the price point of this thing and its quality is PERFECT)

***** depends where you set it. Their is one vid I saw where a guy plays it threw a typical boss od. I use it to record strait in to a tracking machine (TASCAM DP 32) just got that. But used it on a old 8 track before. I go strait in with a Sans amp US metal/Steel (Same pedal two names) in front of it. I use a emulation pedal to save room of mic'd amps. It sounds good any way. I got to start to do more YT vids of tracks. I got some track stuff on my Bluetransam83 main channel. That's all just a 8 track though, and some of those are just plugged strait into that. So far on the 2 chain Sans metal to the zoom the leads are way better sounding then those. But in basic, yea you can rip threw it, the 21 preset is cool for like VH type rhythms even. Only thing is some of the really weird ones are not in stereo. Although a lot are and sound good.

I have it and this pedal through my Yamaha Thr10 sounds good only with clean models but sounds weird with the crunch or high gain amp model on my Thr10, how do I make it sound good with distortion?

I have a thr10 and the problem is dirt after delay = mess. To use an external delay/reverb/mod pedal like this I plan to the THR in flat mode and use a cab sim pedal before the 70.

The Strymon and Eventide pedals are good products, however they are overpriced as they deliver very little for what they cost. It's time for real musicians to stop being fooled into these marketing pitfalls and pitches created by manufacturers with good ideas and sales techniques.

eventide algorithms has some of the best sound and have been for decades. there's a cost associated to quality sound and construction. the zoom unit is cheaply made and it will fail quicker than the eventide and strymon. I have owned zoom units in the past and at least some component of them failed within 2 years.

eventide algorithms are some of the best sounding and have been for decades. their units tend to have better parts and construction. zoom units are generally cheaply made and tend to fail quicker. I have owned 3 zoom units in the past and at least some component of them failed within 2 years. my eclipse on the other hand is rock solid since the day I got it. quality comes at a price. if zoom builds a quality unit you better believe they'll price it high. case in point the F8 recorder.

I hate this pedal and those that rave about it, it is hard to imagine they are using it in a live sense. Most user unfriendly, impossible bend over hurt your back all the time. They make it sound good in these demos cranking the decay and feedback, it does not sound very good, the delays are mottled and do not have the response and feel of many others. And piss off it does not handle line level !!!! It has a lot for the money but on par with high end stuff oh hell no. It was only a just over a $100 but this as your main pedal for CDR come on. At best a bedroom level goof pedal. I got this as I needed some effects in a hurry, I held my breath until I could pull it off the board. Comparing this to Styrmon or Eventide is a joke. Little noodles, and strums does not make a performance piece of gear. OK in place of nothing but not in place of so many other better pedals.

Good to see someone with a different opinion. Just wondering instead of this, is there any affordable pedal worth getting as a multi modulation effect unit? I have a dd7 and amp with reverb, but im looking for a pedal that possibly includes most other modulation effects like phase, trem, chorus etc.
@paulsguitarstudio126

Dude for the little money this thing is OK but it leaves a lot to be desired like a Strymon and Eventide which is light years beyond this. Something for the money you might look into is the little Boss GT001 and GT1 a tone of good stuff in that pedal and much more easier to control and edit, worth a look. In this realm of guitar pedals you generally get what you pay for. Quality tends to cost, these days many vendors offer no qual simple payments to make life easier so you do not have to settle for the bargain bin stuff. Anyone is welcome to did their own thing and all but this CDR does not pass the bar w me. I got it as a stop gap fill in for pedals I needed, just did not do it. OH yeah, I had the idea about the little Boss units as well but for me I needed line level loop use, they are only -10db pedal level.
@chrissullins3
@chrissullins3 7 жыл бұрын
Owen, the Zoom is affordable and worth what you pay for it. If you bought 3 separate pedals just for the noise reduction, pitch shift, and a reverb, you're pushing well over $300. The reverb alone on it is much nicer than what comes built into the Marshall DSL40. The Zoom doesn't beat the complex reverbs/delays, but it holds it's ground and keeps it in a small package that's nice for us new players.

Paul A I’m only using it for one or two other effects. You’d have to be a twat to try and use it to full capability on stage. I’m just using it for two or maybe three effects and maximum three patches with maybe two effects in each patch. Wouldn’t buy the boutique pedals. Don’t find them that glorious and not worth the money. Who needs that much reverb live anyway?
