The footage from Venus just made me so happy, it's just...another place. It's just another place out there and there's an atmosphere, rocks and a ground and you can record the ambient sound, how cool is that.
@godslaughter Жыл бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the reason why we're not getting random video recordings from Mars is due to data transmission limitations. Taking a video recording, then trying to relay to Earth would take a lot of time. Yes, apparently there are some videos taken by Curiosity, there were many images sent, as well as 360 degree (?) footage, but deep space communication still takes time and is intensive. If I got something wrong, please lemme know, I hope I'll see it

You should talk about Titan, the thickest atmosphere of any moon by far and the combination of that with the low gravity means a human in a spacesuit could probably fly there using big, muscle powered, flappy wings that they wear on their arms. Also Io has volcanic eruptions that spew stuff all the way out of its atmosphere into space and there are some really cool pictures of it. Also NASA is sending a nuclear powered drone to Titan to fly around called "Dragonfly". I hope we get some really good videos from that but likely more of the Mars drone quality type of stuff. Although I'm not sure why it wouldn't be possible to slowly beam back an HD, color video.
@mattsmith5421 Жыл бұрын
Sulphur, I don't think it's sulphur that leaves the atmosphere tho but whatever it is reacts with Jupiter's magnetic field to intensify it. Io also losses one ton of mass every minute or maybe hour. I really should remember these things better seen as I watched a video on it over 30 times lol. That video is the moon's of Jupiter by sea if you're interested in them.
@JohnnyShagbot Жыл бұрын
The short answer is that most of the camera equipment which can record high definition, color video, is not hardened to survive the rigors of space. It's doable but would be expensive. Couple that with the transmission times and distances, and it would probably take months to get even fragments of the video. Remember that HD videos are often several gigabytes in size, and we don't send information packets that large through space yet.

@dunodisko2217 Жыл бұрын
4:11 Yes, you can actually! It will be significantly more difficult due to the lack of an atmosphere, but it would be possible. Due to Mercury's incredibly slow axial rotation speed, this region would slowly move around the planet, stop, move in the opposite direction for a bit, and then move back. This cycle would repeat every 88 days. This can occur (and has been observed) on exoplanets with atmospheres that orbit Red Dwarf stars. Usually, the small size and relatively cool temperatures of the star require the planet to orbit incredibly close to be habitable, to the point where they become tidally locked. One side always faces the star while the other never sees it. Scientists think that if humans were to eventually settle on these planets, the colony would have to be positioned in the region where the sun is always up, but hangs low enough in the sky to not be too hot. However, if the planet had a large enough ocean with powerful currents, it MIGHT be able to disperse the solar heat evenly, allowing colonies to be formed underwater or in the boundary layer of air just above it. This can go on and on, but I'll spare you the rest of your week!
