Perhaps this lovely female has decided to hold onto the pasture area herself to discourage others from making a play for M15. I can’t say I blame her, he’s a stellar catch if she can convince him in due course that she’s a worthy mate. Thanks, Androcat, for the update as summer passes toward another season at SWFEC.🦅💕

Patricia-Anne David. IMO, this is M15's territory. As you know, she has followed him around for several months, and perched with him at times. It appears that is her intention; however, we know things change in an instant. Season starts October 1st, and we will see what happens. I think we will see challenges, as we saw with the females when Harriet went missing. I pray they all stay safe, and I am hoping for a quiet start to the season. 🦅💜🙏🏻

It feels so lonely without seeing M15 and the E's. This will definitely be a new beginning for M15. I'm getting a bit anxious as we wait. Will M15 choose her. They have been seen together off & on for a while. She seems to have taken over the territory to some extent by her reaction when that Osprey came to close. She's definitely protective of the area even with M15 not being around. Hopefully M15 will be back soon from his well deserved vacation lol. Time will tell if she will be the one.

E22 and E21 were literally "Here today, Gone Tomorrow" like Harriet. The mystery of Harriet is so perplexing because she never came back. Of course, she would never leave her babies... Linda Adelwerth. Florida Bald Eagle season is October 1st through May 15th. If a nest has a late clutch, which we always have some late clutches here, protection for those nests is extended for the time period needed. Hope that helps. We all still have broken hearts from losing our beautiful Harriet❣️.

Lemon Lady. YW 🙂. She is a pretty eagle. I agree, M15 would not be around the pasture area with the trucks working out front. This is definitely the time of year for this work, as you noted. When the trucks worked in the driveway back in June, E22 flew in and did OK with it. Harriet and M15 have had different experiences with bucket trucks though, so their tolerance is different. The female was 1200' or so away, and the trucks did not bother her at that distance. Yep, we will know soon enough if she is "the one". Things change in an instant, as we have seen, so we shall see what happens. 🦅💜🙏🏻

Ellen Paraguya. YW 🙂. There is no way to know for sure what M15 is thinking. He moved forward with caring for his E's, raising them to fledge and dispersal through difficult circumstances. I would think he knows Harriet is not returning, but only M15 knows what he thinks. He appears to be doing what he does every summer, whatever that is, as he is historically not seen often during the summer. We should see him more often starting sometime in September, and hopefully he is spotted before then. 🤞🦅💜

Great lens into off season at our favorite pasture. I reckognise this female, I believe R23_4. She has the linebacker shoulders like the others too. R23_3 was the one that fed one of the Es I recall. M15 like many male BAEA in the off season might be on a roadtrip. It would appear by her behavior that she is certainly making a play at claiming the territory. We shall see what M15 decides. ptnickb. The SWFEC Team stopped numbering intruders after R23-3. R23-3 is the intruder female who gave a few bites to the E's after stealing their food (video link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nofRaYV-g6eSmJo). The linked video is long, and there are time stamps in the description to quickly click through. Some viewers have nicknamed the female in this video R23-4, and others have given her a variety of other nicknames, for ID purposes. SWFEC will give M15's new mate an official name (or number) when season is underway, and they see who he has partnered with. I agree, this female's behavior over the last several months indicates her intentions. As we know, things can change in an instant, and there may be challenges when breeding season starts. I pray they all stay safe, and I am looking forward to the next chapter. 🦅🙏🏻

Indeed R23_3 showed the kindest intentions towards the Es, the others more concerned for their survival, and a free meal, due maybe to their injuries. It will take a big pair of talons to fill Matriarch Harriets role, and I like you pray for the best for M15, for peace and abundance in this unknown chapter for this amazing Eagle Family. ptnickb. YW 🙂. R23-3 had the most severe foot injuries of the eagles we saw on the cam. Those injuries did not stop her from getting her own food. She brought food for herself to the nest tree twice, but we did not see how she got that food. Those were worrisome days for the E's safety, but it was all just eagles acting like eagles. Stealing is simply one of the ways eagles get food. Thank you for the kind words. 😊🙏🏻

Wonderful video. This beautiful lady has been around since 6 march and she has helped M15 teach the Ees how to defend their nest, and also how to steal. She is fearless, fierce, smart and loyal, just like Harriet. I'm sure she knows where M is, they probably hang out together out of cam view. These eagles can hide very easily, and the trees around yonder pond look quite dense. I am sure that very soon we will see them both working on the nest.

I am not sure what ground photographers may have captured on 3-6, but the cam video footage I captured does not provide ID footage for this female on that date. Stealing food from each other and defending the nest (when old enough) are behaviors eaglets instinctively exhibit while still in the nest. They get better with practice, including when intruders came to the nest tree as the eaglets got older. The E's did turn the tables on the intruders 😁. The trees are not that thick around Yonder Pond anymore, as that area has been developed, unfortunately 😕. There are many places M15 may be perched close by though, and we can only see what public access areas allow us to see. I am looking forward to the start of season, and the next chapter with M15. Spirit Sealed. This is M15's territory, and he has successfully bred here for his entire adult life. Eagles have territory fidelity, so I expect him to partner with a new female and continue breeding here. There are many things that are unknown, so we will have to watch and see what happens. We hope they choose the primary nest tree, but that is up to them. Eagles may choose a different tree in their territory. Sometimes a new pair (M15 and a new female) do not produce a clutch their first season. I choose to remain positive, pray they all stay safe, and look forward to the next chapter with M15. 🦅💜🙏🏻

Vivian Jenkins. YW 🙂. The linemen do have a scary job. I recognized one of them from installing the new insulators in the driveway back on 6-1-23. The female is occupying the territory. She has been here for several months, followed M15 quite a bit, has been seen perching with him, and may know where he is. She may have even spotted him today (when she was watching something, then left). I believe her behavior indicates her interest is in M15 and the territory. We will know more as breeding season gets closer. Hope that helps.

Matrix. I consider this M15's territory also. Others may have differing opinions, and that is fine, as it will always be that way with eagles 🙂. I believe this female is clearly showing her intentions, and it will take a strong female to be "the one" for M15, as this region does have a lot of eagles. We will have to wait and see what happens. I pray they all stay safe🦅💜. And I still miss our beautiful Harriet every day, as I know you do ❣️.

Imawakenow. M is likely in the same area he normally is this time of year, wherever that is. He is typically not seen much, if at all, during this time of year. We should start seeing him more regularly sometime in September. Hopefully he is spotted before then. There are many places around here where we would not be able to see him perched/hanging out.

He could be many places close by where we cannot see him from public view, such as the river one mile away. If we don't see him sooner, we will start seeing him more often sometime in September. Cassie O. Based on size, vocals, her behavior, and M15's behavior. This female has been around for several months now. We have watched her follow M15 (on cams and from ground observations), perch with him at times, and perch in the territory. M15 would have run a male off/fought with a male. The female eagle is bigger/stronger and M15 is not a match. He tried really hard to defend the nest and the E's, and he did amazing. 🦅💜
