Yes, Bald Eagles mate for life unless/until one dies. Or, if the pair is unsuccessful in procreating, they may move on to a different mate.

That is the most amazing thing to see is another creature being born especially a Eagle they are so special and pretty. Don't understand why people just want to shoot them out of the sky just to say Hey I killed a Eagle that is just so wrong. They are Beautiful animals and I so hope that the babies get to survive to Adult Hood that would just be Awsome

Why are males numbered? Are there more males than females?

Harriet was named long before she was featured on the eagle cam. Her first mate was Ozzie. He passed away on Sept. 29th, 2015. The first season this cam was live, Ozzie & Harriet had 2 offspring that were named Hope & Honor. The second season their first hatchling died. It was at that time that the camera owners decided not to give them names anymore but used E for eaglet and a number, to denote the order in which each eaglet hatched...ie: E3, E4 etc. The third season their first hatchling (E5) also died unexpectedly. After Ozzie's passing, the new male was given the designation M15 (stands for Male - 2015) once he successfully bonded with Harriet. This newest eaglet is E9. There will be no more human names given at this nest.
