Simply amazing. Harriet is gorgeous in the heraldic pose with her heavy breathing and her chest and feathers moving up and down. Or maybe that's from her heart beating? E15 watches her and then copies the pose - eaglet see, eaglet do! It's so hot and humid there with no shade in the nest, so I hope the pose is cooling for E15. I'm so grateful to you, Lady Hawk, for posting videos of events that I would never be able to see in real time!

Especially when the brood patch is exposed, and you see the feathers on their chest sticking out on either side, with the opening in their hearts! Such majesty! Beautiful! Their way of praising the Creator! With all creation I sing praises to the Most High! Wow!! That pose that we see Eagles in pictures do, and this was Harriet & M’s second clutch of eggs and fortunately for E15 & E 16, they will fledge and I will miss them. This is my favorite Eagle Nest. A rare happening. Harriet is the best!!! Thank you LadyHawk.

Hello Lady Hawk. These 2 are growing so fast! They are truly a part of my life. Ahhh my Miracle Nest ❤️. Those horaltic poses are stunning! E15 E16 are my miracle babies. I still think about what happened on this nest and I cry. E14 passed and the lil’ eggy didn’t hatch. 😭😭. But look at this nest now. 2 beautiful Baby eagles! Harriet and M! The pair who got blessed by replacing what they lost. Wow! I will miss them so much when they decide to fledge. So proud of Harriet that she can still have eggy’s at her age and still looking beautiful as ever! ❤️ Thank you so much Lady Hawk for showing us their progress through your wonderful vids. 👍🏼❤️. Say! Hi there again, Carol! You know it, Carol! Great question! The brood patch on the chest is exposed, and I learned from Ladyhawke that that’s where all the capillaries are at the surface of the skin, and this is to incubate the eggs and keep them warm, and to keep the newly hatched eaglets warm and safe. And it’s always so fun to watch the parents shimmy back-and-forth as they settle in to ensure that the brood patch is on the egg! But it must get hot being covered by feathers after the brooding is over, and so that beautifully classic heraldic pose is definitely to cool off! Apparently Kathy Wong asked the same question in Chinese, and Andi has been kind enough to translate her question into English, and it seems as though that’s what she was asking...Never a dull moment in Lady Hawk’s KZbin world! 👋🏾🥰😇👍🏾🙏

Lady Hawk: I am guessing they do this to cool off on hot days, is that correct? They have beaks open and seem to be panting also, but stretching out wings would allow heat to escape instead of keeping it trapped close to the body. It doesn't look like there is even a breeze at all. Do Eagles sweat?

Hello Recovering Soul yes you are correct! The eagles do not have sweat glands and the only way to cool off is to pant and to spread their wings out like this! Of course the best way to cool off is to take a dip in the pond lol :)

Phyllis Sinex Yes cooling off on a hot day in the sun. It is also used for wing drying after a bath or rain. E15 branched for the first time at a record 55 days old...three days ago.

Incredible. Never have I seen images of a nesting eaglet in heraldic pose before (and thank you for naming it for us!) This young one models mom so closely, from the early days of subtleties with feeding and head bonking corrections to this. What a remarkable connection there. But then, this mother is quite remarkable. As is the father. I wonder if this posture cools the body? I half expected E15 to branch further but not yet. And E16 rests in its own thoughts. ❤️❤️

It’s very hot, and these eagles are trying to cool off. Having the brood patch open, where all the capillaries are at the surface of the skin to incubate the eggs and keep the baby eaglets warm, needs to be cooled off! I’m guessing that it’s very hot there in Florida, and most likely humid, too! This has been the most amazing video to watch! It never fails to take my breath away to see an eagle in a classic heraldic pose!
