SWFL Eagles ~ Harriet Returns To The Nest Tree! STUNNING Sunset Welcomes Her Home! 💕💕 6.28.20

It was a very happy afternoon to see Harriet return to the nest tree after being gone four days! We see her flying in from across the street as E16 starts squeeing and drops to the nest. Harriet glides in and lands on her throne!! Welcome home Mom! ♥♥
E15 flies in right after her joins E16 on the nest. E16 has some unusual vocals now and squees for a couple of minutes as he looks up at Mom on the treetop perch! Harriet will come down to the nest later and eat some of the nestovers and also have a couple of tug-o-pelt moments with E15. She will ultimately feed a few bites to E15 while E16 is busy eating his fish. When she is finished she will head to the pond and we see E15 standing on poor Stuffy!!
As the sun started to set, it filled the sky with color and highlighted Harriet beautifully! She does some preening and zipping of her feathers as the colors fade and dusk approaches. E16 hops down from the spike and goes over and picks on Stuffy and then returns to the spike. At the close of the day, Harriet is perched on the outer attic, E15 on the treetop throne, E16 on the veranda and Dad on the old cam tree. A perfect evening for our eagle family! I was here last night at sunset when Harriet was in the cam looking over at the E’s. I didn’t know that she had been away for four days, but knew it was a while. M15 has been doing a great job feeding E15 and E16 in her absence. What a great dad. I am so glad that they were rewarded with these two, after the harsh start to the season. I saw the E’s standing almost in an embrace one afternoon while mom was on her much deserved break. I wish that they could stay with us like this forever, but realize that Harriet and M15 work this hard so that one day the E’s will be as prolific too. I love them all. Thank you so much Lady Hawk

Glorious day! Awww, sweet E16, telling Mom how much he missed her. So happy Harriet got to go on a well-deserved mini-vacation. M15 did a superb job, providing for his eaglets while Harriet was away. As was Harriet when M15 was on his mini- vacation. What a team! They trust each other so much! So happy the whole family is together again! I think E16 was so so happy to see Mom home after four days away that she needed unusual vocalization to show her excitement, yay!! mom, hi, hi, I missed you, I love you, hi mommy! I love it when Harriet feeds her huge babies, so sweet, so very Harriet💗 She is gorgeous, a magnificent queen. SweetE16's unusual vocals were so interesting! Was he communicating a special message to Mom about her being gone so long? It does seem so. How nice to see Mom back in the nest here with the kids. The remarkable pink sunset behind Mom on the Outer Attic was a truly a "welcome home" scene for us all to admire💞. Hi Baita I believe that Harriet will go back to her normal schedule and lay her eggs in November again!! It has been such a remarkable season - from tragedy with losing E14 to triumph with Harriet's miracle babies!! ♥♥ I would not blame her for taking time off but her whole goal is prorogation of the species so I do think she will be ready for the Fall season!

I've been gone for the past week and of course was not aware of Harriet being gone. I cried when I watched this video. I will save it and rewatch it again. Why do you think Harriet was gone so long? Is this common closer to fledging? What if dad left, too, deciding to take his own holiday or maybe that just never happens lol. Another question along the same lines: If one of the parents does not ever return, is it possible the other could raise 2 eaglets on his/her own ?

A couple of years ago, following the sad demise of the father, the mother eagle on the Decorah nest in Iowa raised 3 eaglets single-handedly. She worked so hard but the nest is close to a trout farm, which was a huge help to her. Even so, it was a huge effort and she was a heroine. She usually has three babies, interestingly.

I think it would depend what age the eaglets are. If eaglets are still needing to be kept warm then it would be much harder for lone parent to raise young.

Yeah.. that stuffy better not try and get away!! lol Mama needed some time away. I'm glad she got it and then came back. I hate to see them eating a rat after the bleeding problems that took a chick earlier. These guys are much bigger now though. It might make the difference, I don't know.
