These eagles here, Harriet & M15 don’t play around. They know how to survive. And they know they have to feed their babies. They are both excellent hunters! That heron was gonna eat his mussel and look M-15 got both. Wow! Hard to believe Lady Hawk. The food chain. Now do BAEA’s have a predator who can get them then eat them ? IDK. Well thank you so much Lady Hawk for this vid. It is what it is. Some people don’t like to see things like this. But they gotta eat. Have a wonderful day.

Claudia Waid The feet of parrots are a strange sight, with 2 toes facing front and 2 facing backwards! The feet of most other land birds and all webbed birds are so different in design, with 3 toes facing front and one backwards. But whether webbed or whether toes face front or backwards, they all look so reptilian in appearance, with the scales..

The circle of life has death as part of the cycle...it took some getting used to, but now I don’t squirm watching them eat anymore...And somehow, watching them eat fish is different from watching them eat mammals. The white flesh of the fish doesn’t get to me like the blood red of the muscles of the mammals and birds that get eaten...I’m glad that watching these bald eagle nests has allowed me to toughen up about having to kill to eat!

Wow a lot of negative comments about this video, this is nature and even if we don’t like it, it is their instinct to do what they need to do to feed their young or to feed themselves. I myself get more bothered watching something live be brought to the nest but I also realize this is nature. It doesn’t matter if it is a fish, bird or squirrel they all feel. It isn’t like these eagles have a choice, it is survival for them. Personally if I don’t want to see a video I skip past it but why condemn them for instinct.
@ladyhawk4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mary! The eagles are opportunists and do eat a variety of the wildlife and it is nature and survival for them. The live prey is the difficult part and I may or may not cover that in a video.

For all the people commenting nonsense... that was not a fully grown heron.. if you look more closely it doesn't have feathers on its wings or body (chick). Must have been snatched from its nest while trying to eat that mollusk.

Very young blue heron, sub-adult learning to hunt; probably his first mollusk. They don't have enough meat to feed hungry teenage eaglets. M15 should stick to fishing; plenty in SW Florida and the entire Gulf of Mexico. I have a local resident adult blue heron at the pond by my house. It seems lonely but safe and has been hanging around since winter.

Hi Joe yes the eagles eat everything - bones, skulls, legs, beaks, fur, feathers and shells!! I have seen some large goose bones and bird wing bones get swallowed by adults and eaglets!! Pretty amazing!

@Lady Hawk Yes it is amazing. I’ve just noticed with most raptors, esp hawks that mainly feed on birds, they usually pluck the feathers before consuming. Thanks for replying! Joe

@nathanaelswanson90104 жыл бұрын
The heron that doesn't see the eagles coming will leave starving children alone and vulnerable. This young heron probably had no eggs or dependents--with it gone, other small herons will grow and mature, and the clams and fish it doesn't eat will nourish other creatures. Also, Mom and Dad gotta eat. :)

I wouldn't feel bad if the heron had been roadkill as they do sit in the middle of the road like the Great Blue heron near my house last week; I almost hit it. A young heron has no meat; mostly feathers and bones and didn't even get to enjoy his clam as his last meal. I'm getting used to seeing the cruel side of nature and accept it. A fish would offer a better meal for the eaglets.
