There is something rather sad about seeing dad sleeping in the nest. I don't know if animals feel loss but if they do I can imagine Harriet and M feeling the loss of E9

They are telling us...everything is ok with E9,they are spending time together before taking care of their next babies. I feel reassured by M15 and Harriet coming back to the nesting tree,they seem relaxed and happy. Thank you M and Harriet. You both did a great job with E9,and I know he will do wonderful on his life adventure.. You both should be very proud of your son. Love all of you ❤❤

As tears run down my cheeks, I have become friends with some of the best people in the world...eagle lovers. How fitting is it, that my first screen was of Harriett laying her head in the nest because of exhaustion knowing her little one was just hours away from hatching --Today, day 126, M15 lays his head in the nest after E9 has left. Remembering that this is only his 3rd little eaglet, gives me a sense "he feels the same loss". Love you Lady Hawk...see you on the many KZbin travels...

Hi Eagle Trek Low - nice to see you here!!! I have also made so many great eagle friends because of this nest. I think it was very fitting for Dad to lay in the nest. He has not done this while E9 was still around - so maybe he sensed he was gone or he saw him fly away and now came back to the nest he built with Harriet and rested. Soar high E9 and safe travels!! Dad misses his baby that just flew away a few days ago, the love between them was strong and will never be forgotten and we have shared that love also by watching them each seeing the baby grow up to be an adult and then it happens, time to fly away and be on their own, farewell E9 hope to see again some day.

He definitely appears to be looking around before and after getting into the nest. He's stretching and moving his neck trying to focus and see at a distance. Ugh. This tugs at my heart as M15 had a really special relationship with E9. They appeared to be gone at long stretches of time that last week. I wonder if they were off together and what last minute secrets he shared with his offspring readying E9 for his or her big adventure. So many memorable moments they've all had together, but I won't forget that first meal by the road after the accidental fledge and the stick barrier he put up, taking care to be ever so gentle when E9, got a little to testy over food. Thankfully because you captured all of those precious moments I can go back and relive them. I know I've said thank you a lot lately...but thank you Lady Hawk for giving your valuable time and effort to documenting these precious little windows into the lives of this eagle family and others. I and many others are forever grateful.

Hi Terri - you are most welcome - I am so glad you and everyone can go back and relive all these special moments of E9. Just think, years down the road we will still be watching him hang upside down and dancing in the rain and sitting with Mom and Dad with a full moon over the nest tree (check out my vid Full moon over the nest) - but by then, he will be an adult with a stunning white head and tail and yellow beak ♥♥♥ So many memories to hold dear.

Lady Hawk is it also difficult for you to watch the little E's grow up so quickly and then fly away? How many seasons have you documented Harriett & Ozzie & M15? The previous seasons had injury and death... I'm glad I didn't watch the previous years. This season was heartbreaking enough, and E9 was strong healthy & spoiled being an only "child ". God bless you and I pray to St.Frances to protect Niner where ever he may roam🙏🏼

Hi Anita - I have been watching for all 5 seasons but I just started recording and doing videos with the the beginning of the new nest and E7/E8's season. Awww...precious video Lady Hawk!! Mom & Dad together in the nest tree. 😀 M15 looked so sweet, I kind of felt bad for him. It was they they were remembering E9. In your opinion, do you believe they have feelings? Like loss? I know they aren't the same as humans feelings. But do you believe they have feelings? Just wondering by observing your videos and the nest tree on the SWFEC site, looks to me like Harriet & M15 are looking for E9. And I promise I will watch your "tribute to E9" video!! I just haven't been able to do it yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Shhhh...I don't want my hubby to see me crying again over this beautiful eagle, he may have me commited!! lol Although he did ask almost every day how the baby eagle was!! This is so sweet. I believe they feel the lost as we do when our children grow up and leave to make a new life. E9 is just learning new things and exploring a bigger world out there. He will be back to see mom and dad, I am sure. Time will tell. Meanwhile M15 and Harriet have each other. We just have to wait as they do.

So appreciate you capturing these moments of Harriet and M15 as I believe they know they did a good job of raising E9. The mods did assure us they would return to the nest after E9's departure. So I choose to believe they are just saying their goodbyes and moving to the next phase of getting some much needed rest. Also, I choose to believe from this human heart that M15 helped E9 take off for his journey as being a magnificent eagle. Again, thank you!

Hi Sandy - you are most welcome! H & M did an excellent job of raising E9 - he is equipped with everything he needs to live a great life now. Yes, H & M do not leave the area - they are here all summer long but they don't come to the nest everyday - no need to. They will pick up with nestorations in the Fall.

I do believe they grieve. Maybe not the same as humans but after 120+ days of taking care of an Eaglet, I'm sure they do feel some sort of emptiness at first. Their world revolved around E9 even before he hatched. M15 is a lot newer at the parenting thing than Harriet too so he may be coming to terms with E9 leaving in his own way. He is such a good daddy as Harriet is a good mom too. I just keep imagining E9 soaring above exploring his new world. He's a happy, healthy Juvie enjoying his freedom. One day he will become a daddy too and he will be a good one like M15. (Yes, I do believe E9 is a boy :)). Thank you Lady Hawk for all of your wonderful videos. I absolutely loved the video of your tribute to E9. You do a great job with your videos and I look forward to many more next season!

Hi dmc - thank you so much - glad you liked E9's tribute vid. I wish I could do a documentary on E9's life - wouldn't that be fascinating? We only had 35 days from the time the egg was laid to hatch and another 122 days with him in the nest...but in that short period of time, he brought all of us so much happiness and joy. Each day tuning in you never knew what to expect, where he would go or do. It has been such a great season - hope that next year will be as good. Thanks for watching!!

Ladyhawk I was asleep at this time and had watched them with my tablet from beginning to 12:30 last night so I missed all of this great late nite footage (watching again tonight since we're so lucky they're in the nest tree again). I wonder what time H&M took off this morning since they weren't in the nest tree at first light. Did you notice dad was really into preening his legs last night? lol :-)

I have vid of Dad preening his legs - seems to me they were irritated and he was a bit bothered by them. Might have gotten bit by something. But he seems to be okay (5.10.17) :) I don't recall off the top of my head when they took off. :)

We are all sharing in the same emotions, sadness & tears missing E9. The comments all come from first time viewers... I'm curious if anyone from last season E7 & E8 has come back to follow E9. ? Or is it so heartbreaking that they can't go through this emotion again? Who is coming back to watch next season E10 & hopefully an E11?

No doubt Harriet and M15 are staying close to the nest tree in case E9 should return. They do seem extra watchful and attentive to sounds, so it may be they're watching and listening for him. I also don't doubt they know exactly where he is. They are too good as parents to totally abandon him, particularly him being so inexperienced. There's no parent, ...human or animal.... , that's not going to be available if the need arises for help. And I'll take that to the bank for sure! Animals are far from dumb or ignorant.

Hi Imturmenne - I think you are correct. They did this last season as well with E7 and they did search for days for E8...Animals are also very intuitive - something most humans ignore.

Makes me sad to think he is gone. His parents have to let go so soon. When you think about it, only after 5 months eagle parents have to let go of their offspring and they never come back. But unlike human parents, kids leave home around 18 years and they continue to come back home to see us. I am so glad I don't have to go through their heart break knowing E9 won't come home.

Hello everyone,,,this is E9. I didnt realize I had this much of a following until I arrived at my new home in the keys and got on youtube and saw how many people seemed to miss me. I just wanted to say it was great to know so many of you followed me and i didnt even know it. I am doing great and have already met a wonderful young eagle who seems to like me. she tried to kiss me but I wasnt sure what to do next ;). i will get it figured out. I miss my folks but they understand I needed my own space and am ready to conquer my new territory. I swear, if I see one more crow, Im going to show him whats up. damn things. Please dont feel sad for me. I am very healthy and strong, have already made a few hunts on my own, and am feeling like im on top of the world. Maybe its because Im sitting way up here on my computer ;) got a couple new eagle friends as well and we are going to all "hang together". Mom and Dad said they will hook up with me soon. Man,,they were awesome parents although mom seemed a little hot tempered at times but oh well, thats mom. Thanks lady hawk and wngkrswings. you guys made me more special than I really am. I didnt know so many cared. Sorry about worrying everyone when I flopped out of the nest awhile back. Mom and dad assured me I was going to be ok. and i was. I was a young and cocky eaglet but its paid off. I am very happy in my new surroundings and look forward to "running things for awhile down here". Thanks again folks. I suspect that if E9 doesn't manage to feed himself on his own, he would return to the nest. As I understand it, juveniles form loose groups, hunting together and stealing from each other.

I had been sad at watching the Trio egles, where the mother name Hope ferocious fighting an intruder March 24 never came back to her chick's eglets.💛. They think she was wounded badly in the fight. Too sad to watch.
