This Swiffer Duster 360 #productreview will show you why this is THE duster professional cleaners use. It's also if you #askangelabrown the best duster for Airbnb, the best duster for car, the best duster for home... you get my drift. If you've caught any Angela Brown videos on just about any platform you'll discover she has a Swiffer Duster 360 in her back pocket. Rumor has it she'll be buried with one - as not to enter the afterlife without her favorite cleaning equipment close by.
The trap and lock technology that #SwifferDuster is famous for makes it the 'go-to' favorite for house cleaners worldwide.
Before you buy random cleaning supplies it's great to check online Swiffer reviews for the best duster for your type of cleaning.
You'll be delighted to find they sell a Swiffer 360 starter kit and Swiffer 360 duster 6ft extender for ceiling fans and recessed lighting. NOTE: The Swiffer Duster 360 is also Savvy Cleaner Approved. Yay!
Today's Ask a House Cleaner sponsors are Savvy Cleaner (house cleaner and maid service training and certification.) And My Cleaning Connection (a hub for all things cleaning.)

I think the dusters are OK. When dusting in bright light, you can see the dust flying all over. Also, when my duster gets a little bit full of dust, I have to give it a light spray of Endust so that some of the dust will continue to stick to it. I clean my own home and find its best to dust first, then do the floors. That way some of the dust can fall to the floor and get picked up there as well.

Thanks for these tips. Are you using the Swiffer Brand refills? I ask because you shouldn't be seeing dust fly all over when using them. They have patented trap and lock technology which removes the need for the Endust spray. I've purchased some knock-off refills and got the same results you mention. The refills are much cheaper in every way than the Swiffer brand refills. I wish (and am crossing my fingers) that Swiffer gives us a group discount at some point for these refills. They are indeed expensive. I love your idea of dusting first before vacuuming. 👏👏👏

I have that thing and love it. I live where some farmer is always plowing a field, and my dog is short-haired but sheds like crazy, so the dust and dog hair that lands on surfaces here is just never-ending. The Swiffer Duster is great for getting around and between items on shelves, etc., without having to move them, and also for tight spots like the wall and baseboard beside the dryer where the vacuum crevice tool can't reach. Genius idea to keep one in the car, too! Thanks, Angela!

I'm not a pro cleaner, but for the longest time, I have always avoided using dusters because I thought they only spread dust around instead of pick it up. I couldn't understand why anyone would use them. They just seemed so "wrong." So I'd only use my vacuum cleaner nozzle, Lysol wipes or just paper towels for dusting. I preferred CLEANING a surface instead of DUSTING it which took a lot of time. I even used wipes on my ceiling fan and light fixtures. But this video might make me a believer in dusters if they don't spread dust around. I'll still use my wipes and vacuum when necessary, but simply dusting a surface - on a regular basis - is a lot quicker than wiping surfaces. I'm actually excited about buying this duster and using it. I must also admit that I don't dust as often as I should, but this duster may change that. And I really like your car tip. Thanks.

I hope you don't. I just hired my very first cleaning service who has been in business for about 15 yrs... Just 2 days ago was my first clean...The owner sent 2 women in to do a deep clean for the first time, and then they were going to come back every other week for bi weekly cleanings.. they brought a long Swiffer on an extension pole that swiffer was nearly black and looked like it had been used for months and months at many other homes... It was filthy! ,,..that is what they used in my house to clean ceiling fans, corners of the ceilings, basboards and chandeliers. I watched as they hit the swiffer against their little step ladder to get the dust to come off as she was cleaning the ceiling fan. The ceiling fan was quite dirty and chunks of dust were falling on my white carpet... they then went around with a dry rag to dust the furniture and shook the rag out in my house right by the furniture they had just dusted... They actually shook the rag out in the house right by the piece of furniture they had just wiped off...All they did was stir up a huge dust storm in my house and now 2 days later, my furniture is covered in the same dust they had already dusted including dust they hauled here from other homes on the very dirty swuffer... The kicker is, the day the owner came to give me an estimate, I said, plz tell me you clean with a damp rag vs a dry one or a swiffer right? She said no, they go around with the swiffer first to get all the dust off then go over it with a slightly damp rag... I told her I preferred to have my home cleaned without a swiffer.. Well that didn't happen and now both my husband and I have sore throats and our noses burn inside from all the dust still floating around in here.. I fell for the swiffer trend several years ago until I seen how much dust they disperse into the air while I was using it in a room that had a lot of bright sunlight was shining directly into the room while I was dusting. There was more dust flying into the air than what was collecting on the duster. That was the last time I ever used a swiffer and every time I see their commercials, I just shake my head wondering how many others fall for the nonsense.. A fluffy duster does not have a vacuum that sucks the dust into the center of the duster and holding it there while you are moving the duster around various objects. It's science! But that company has buffaloed people out of millions of dollars with their claims that it holds a household full of dust without releasing it.. Please dont fall for that and keep your customers happy.

I was always old school. A cloth and furniture polish was what I used. A friend mentioned these and I thought, surely they must work if she's recommending them. So I went out and bought the big pack at Sam's. I hate them. I dusted my headboard which has 4 cubby holes and the first 2 cubbies were great. By the 3rd and 4th, it was all I could do to get into the corners to get the dust out! All it does is just what I thought, it throws dust around and doesn't really pick up after the initial swipes. There's a reason old school is STILL old school. And yes, it's name brand, yes, it's the heavy-duty 360. I thought I'd come on here and see what I must be doing wrong. It's pretty simple. It just doesn't work.

I find the Swiffer Duster very useful, but argh, it drives me crazy sometimes! When I dust off some things like my books, the fluffy thing always slips off the handle no matter how I attach it to it!
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
I wonder why that is. I'm guessing the sleeves were too big to stay on. In that event, other professional house cleaners tell me they use clear hair elastics (here is the paid link amzn.to/3cRO82D so you can see what I'm talking about) and they slide it on about halfway to hold the replacement head in place and then fluff the duster around the rubber band. It's an extra step but would ensure it wouldn't slip off when cleaning.

Hi Angela, can you make a video about house cleaners and the ethics around calling CPS in cases of suspected or confirmed child or elder abuse/neglect? For instance, I cleaned a house today where the child's room was infested with flies and smelled strongly of urine. The parent said they had "given up on the room and that the kids are just messy." The children all appeared to be under the age of 12. I gave the parent recommendations and told them that I could come back to finish cleaning properly because it would have turned into an all-day thing and I had another client booked after them. Hopefully they take me up on that offer. Would be interesting to hear your take, as well as if you've had a similar experience.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Yes, I will make you a video, and yes, I've had lots of experience in this department. The rule of thumb is your gut instinct. There is a fine line between living in a messy room and a room that is a biohazard and toxic to your health (or the child's health.) If people are living in conditions that can easily be addressed (meaning they have electricity, clean running water, readily available cleaning supplies) the recommendations for cleaning up that you gave them may be all they need. If there is suspected or confirmed abuse/neglect and a person's life is in danger, call for help. You may want to address your policy on this with the family when you do a walkthrough. Many families will call a house cleaner when they are already being visited by social services.

You wouldn't want to touch everything in someone's home with a duster, then go to someone elses home and touch everything in their home with the same duster head. That said, if you are in your own home, it's unlikely you are going to do ALL the dusting at once. So you can put it down and pick it up later to finish dusting. When it gets icky, toss it and get a new head.

Yes, they now sell the Swiffer Duster washable heads here is the paid link amzn.to/3wZcWwu so you can see what I'm talking about. They are not as lightweight as the disposable ones so if you are dusting something fragile, do be careful. The tiny fibers can get caught on things like the curly designs in the wrought iron stair rails. You just have to be careful when using reusable ones. 👍

Are you using the Swiffer brand refills? There are knock-off brands available in some of the big discount stores that don't have the patented trap and lock technology and they don't stay on very well either. I wonder if by mistake you ended up with a box of similar refills but not the Swiffer brand. The boxes they come in are deceptively similar. I've tried both kinds and having cleaned literally thousands of homes, there is only one brand of refills I buy for the very reasons you mention.

@@AskAngelaBrown Thank you. But wait. There is more 😄. Two off topic great tips: - If a client uses the frying pan and there are (old) grease splatters everywhere, you erase these with ease with a slightly wet solid dishwasher cube. - If you have to go no. 2, light a match and blow it out. The sulfur eradicates unwanted odors immediately.

Those extra tips are the best John! I bought the matches and when my husband has to go, he has to go. Visitors doesn't bother him, outdoors it doesn't bother him. I lit a match and the air is really clear immediately. That matchbox is now permanently in my purse. I help my son by cleaning his house now and then. The grease is just whiped away. This will save me 10 to 15 minutes cleaning time. Awesome John. Thank you.

I have had my Swiffer extension duster for quite a while. I use washable heads to cut some waste. I have found it an essential staple-probably my favorite, most faithfully used cleaning tool. However, I have one question: how do you keep the swivel head locked? Mine will lock, hold, and then loosen in a matter of moments, taking away from my time to adjust and re-lock the swivel head. Have you run into this? And if so, are there any ways you've found to mechanically fix or resolve it? I am rather attached to my extender, and don't want to replace it if it isn't necessary.

I recently bought a box of the swiffer 360 dusters. They look absolutely nothing like the product shown on the box. They're flat. Will not fluff up at all. Whereas the image on the box shows a super fluffy soft looking duster. I learned my lesson. I'll never buy another Swiffer product again.

@AskAngelaBrown 3 ай бұрын
+@DC-kj3in it’s true. I am sorry. I should have explained. They are super flat when they arrive in the box they pack several of them in there in a vacuum packed sort of way so that they’re skinny and will fit in the box. When you get them, you have to install them on the swiffer duster and then fluff them up with your hand or give them a really good shake. That way they open up and are able to be used.

My experience has been the same as far as leaving streaks of dust. Do you use the pet version, by any chance? I’ve tried both versions and was disappointed (I foster and own dogs, a cat, and small birds. Maybe these work better on dust that doesn’t come from animals…?) Also, the duster head slips off the handle way too easily, and it doesn’t seem to hold much dust so I go through quite a few of them each time I clean. I’m much better off just using a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Are you using the Swiffer brand? I've noticed off brands (like the Great Value) brand falls off easily. I have not had a problem with the Swiffer refills. That said, I know some people are using hair bands (paid link amzn.to/3DOFdZK) to lock them in place. Take the Swiffer Refill and the top part off the duster. Roll a clear hair elastic over the yellow part of the handle where the white part meets. Snap the white part back in place. Put the Swiffer head back on the fork. Roll the band up over the base of the Swiffer Duster to lock the Refill in place. Presto!

When I married, I moved in to my husbands home of 35 years (he was 5 when he moved here and now owns it). It had not been cleaned in over 20 years so dust was/is everywhere... loads of it. I'm beginning to believe this house is a dust factory because dust collects so quickly. I grew up in a humid part of the country and now live in an arid part and this dust issue is overwhelming. I could go through a whole box of swiffers in one cleaning! How do I get a handle on this? How often should I dust? Help! ::cough wheeze:: 😰
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Some areas are prone to dust. Some of the drier more desert like areas of the country you'll find dust storms where there are not lots of trees or grass to block dust. So even the slightest breeze will kick up dust and send it whirling. Keeping doors and windows closed helps keep the dust at bay. Replacing air filters in the HVAC system monthly or bi-monthly can help a lot. Choosing a vacuum with great suction and HEPA filtration are a plus, along with a regular vacuuming schedule. Moving is not always an option but it may help. I moved from Utah (a very desert like area with lots of dust and sand storms) to North Carolina that is lush with trees and quite humid. I traded one allergy for another. My dust allergies subsided - but my allergies from pollen and mold kicked in. I wish there was an easy answer beyond regular cleaning and containment.

I've heard that happening to people before, but in the 15 to 18 years I've been using them, I can only count a handful of times it's happened to me.

My issue with disposable products like this is that they are terrible for the environment. When you throw things in the trash, they end of in landfill or even worse, in our oceans and waterways (Google “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It’s an eye-opener). Our planet is dying and choked with garbage. This is why I try to use as many reusable and non-toxic products as I possibly can. People have dusted with a plain damp rag for decades. Just throw in the washing machine and reuse.
