@4everyoung869 yes you can make money as an owner operator, but currently the market Is bad for new owner operators, I think that's why the advice I'd to stay where you're at, until the market and rates get better, it's slow at warehouses right now, as a yard driver I see the struggle.

I’ve been driving since 1968 and I’m still driving Interstate in Australia at 73 years of age. One of the biggest regrets that I have is always falling for that greener grass on the other side of the fence. Things didn’t work as well as if I didn’t look at that greener grass. Something like the Swift job would be more suited to an older driver, while you are still young enough to go a little harder on Prime. The greener grass is not always green, sometimes there is tinge of brown

If being close to home is important then take it if the money difference ain't too bad. If your truck is your apartment and you want to save money and otr fits you then stay. Lot's of options. The breakup fee to leave prime before your year is done is covered by the bonus you'll get by the new company. After your business expenses are they similar to your net pay from the Walmart account? Of course if your truck is your home it skews the numbers. I value home time over weeks over the road. I just passed by CDL at Prime and already got a job offer for local driving as CDL driver to landfill. I'm gonna do another month of TNT and next home time Im bouncing. I needed Prime for their training and they got me the CDL. Being otr is just another world I simply can't cope in long term. Not only does the local pay more but I'm home every day and in a year I'll finance my truck and trailer to earn even more. Otr doesn't prep you for city driving and I know that there's more than one way to pay your dues as a trucker. Being otr is one way but not the only way and many local drivers never drove one mile otr. I'm a local trucker through and through and Im happy I got offered a local opportunity. I'm greatful to Prime but I earned that CDL despite the shitty inexperienced trainer I got. It was mostly me and my effort and I'm paying for it anyways so Prime ain't losing either way. Always look out for yourself first in trucking.

I’ll give you my advice what you should do, finish your lease out, so you won’t pay back any money since you didn’t finish your lease out , and then get a couple years experience with prime then go to an LTL company and run line haul, where you can be home every day all holidays and weekends and they have good benefits and good pay. But normally with those jobs, you have to be driving for at least two years continue doing what you’re doing saying other states and enjoying driving your Peterbilt. Just remember a lot of trucking companies lie to you. It sounds good but then when you get in there, can you fill it out? It’s not how they described it.
