Try putting the hammock ropes tighter and lower down so that it's not so bent when you sleep. Not a professional, but it worked for me

The best spot in that area is just North of the intersection with Wildcat. It's elevated above the creek and opposite a sheer cliff. There's also a small sand beach at the edge of the creek. I've never seen more copperheads in my life though. Depending on the time of year, you can catch Brook trout.

As a Cdn it is soooo foreign to me (no pun intended) that you can carry a sidearm in a national forest. Or anywhere. Yet I am envious from a safet perspective What time of year were you in on the trail? Good trail? Not a long one

Liked the video! Swift camp creek is one of my favorite areas in the rrg. Watch out for the cottonmouths in the summer, it’s full of them. Btw nice sidearm, I usually carry when I’m alone. You were only a couple of miles from where the bear mauled a guy a few years back.

I love that spot!!! I think I passed through it on one of my treks down there. Good looking firearm there and I agree no need to conceal on a hike. I don't. Great overnighter

The point of concealing is to have it whenever you would least expect to need it. It’s not like people bring guns with them because they actually think they are going to have to use it, they bring the guns with them because you never know what could happen.

Looks like you may have had your hammock straps too tight. The ideal angle is 30 degrees from horizontal (use your index finger and thumb in a pointing position to approximate). I prefer the underquilt method vs the sleeping pad in a hammock. Its hard to keep the diagonal on the pad to me. It is good to see you doing some solo camping, its good for the soul. I almost prefer it. It gives me time to collect my thoughts and organize my priorities.

@@Serialphotog i don't really understand here. Why would it be less bent if you loosen the straps? And i didnt have anything else than sleeping bag and pillow when I slept in a hammock, just the big net so the mosquitoes wouldn't bite through

I have been doing some research for an upcoming trip to RRG and enjoying some of your videos. Have you ever done the Copperas Creek Falls trail to Snow, Double Deer, and Hopewell Arches? This will be my 3rd time to the Gorge and I want to see something off the beaten path. Already done Cloud Splitter. Open to any other suggestions too. Thanks!

I usually use my down coat as a pillow in the hammock. I sleep better in it with a pillow.

You're straps should be hanging off the tree at a 30% angle. Sometimes I feel like I have a better diagonal lay when I have the straps hanging at a 45% angle. It seems like it depends on the distance between the trees too. It just something you have to play around with.

Awesome overnight. Yea, sleeping with a pad in a hammock is different. An UQ is a lot more comfortable. Btw, I saw in your description that you're looking for music? Check out "Evan's backpacking videos" here on KZbin. He makes copyright free music for use in videos. Just give him credit. He has a SoundCloud account with lots of different music.

why would you be open carrying? For the sake of other people, at least conceal carry. When I walk up on you with my children, you make me uncertain. Nice videos tho!

Dude, he's in the woods, open carry is appropriate. He went out of his way to be alone in the woods.

Good for you! I live in Louisvillle and some people open carry in east end Louisville because they don't want to pay for a conceal permit.
