Hello friends,
And welcome to another By Request Song Tutorial. In today's guitar lesson, I'm breaking down the Temptations 1965 classic "My Girl" written by the great Smokey Robinson. This tune has it all; a catchy riff, balanced composition, an infectious melody and a well-constructed key change to wow your audience. I'll break down the intro, verse and choruses in two keys, while explaining the music theory at work throughout this iconic tune. Chords, tabs and lyrics are available for this Temptations "My Girl" guitar lesson. Let's get started!

Once I got used to Rob’s way of talking, a bit fast, I realized that he is one of the best musicians giving guitar lessons on KZbin. Thanks for all you do, Rob.

I love to play chords and am learning riffs from teachers such as you on KZbin. I usually give up when the riffs go up the neck. But you stayed down and I stayed to listen and try and I can do this whole song and after lots of practice it will sound pretty good. I think you are a great teacher and will follow you. Thanks for offering your expertise!!

So impressed with you Rob, love your arrangements how you mix in bass lines and 2nd guitar parts just enough, along with the basic chords to make a mediocre player like me actually enjoy hearing himself play classic songs like this one and 'Stand by me'. Thank you sir, great voice as well as great teacher.

I can’t see if you are using pick. It looks like you are not. But, the sound comes so crisp. You are too good and teaching is very good also. I think one small portion in the beginning with basic slowed down strumming could help. Your percussion technic sounds too good but guy like me who is just starting out becomes complicated. But, having said all that, you are one of the best teachers on KZbin for guitar.

@swiftlessons
@swiftlessons 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, if you want to use a capo, you can, it depends on what key you're most comfortable singing in. I took it off during the instructional segment so that those who don't own one can follow along. For future reference, don't worry about performing tunes in the original key, it's more important that you perform in a key that works for your vocal range.
