I have to compliment Rob not only on his teaching but also his playing. I ve been playing and teaching for decades and I have come across excellent players in that time who don t teach that well and great teachers whose performances didn t exactly blow me away. What I like about Rob is he is teaching material that isn t over challenging and modelling it in such a way that you just have to pick up your guitar. This song was composed in 1923 by Jimmy Cox and te first recorded by Bobby Leecan around June 1927. It was popularised by Bessie Smith and wonderful covers have included a fabulously flinty one by Scrapper Blackwell ('62). Anyway, all this to say that Eric Clapton came to this song quite late in the day. And that's my part of the lesson.
