Who is this Guy. I am in Canada, born London, first car nini, second Austin Cooper 'S'. Light of my life, abused it, chased Cortina GT 1500's, needed horepower. Such great fun..Nick, watched many videos, great cars but you are the master driver, agressive bugger with supreme skills. Proud of you. Dave.

Why do you cross your right hand over the top of the wheel on most left-handers, but keep them at 9-3ish on straights and most right handers?

Alec is saying "should only have an 850 cc engine, but it does have the ashtray".

Years back I remember calculating what a Swiftune engine and box cost in Australian dollars - about $40,000!!!!

Hm, if you have the ££££, you get get all the best parts from MED Engineering, but as they don't build (many don't for liability reasons), you'd have to DIY it. I'm nearly finished rebuilding a 1981 Classic Mini, had I bought a complete lump (assembled inc gearbox) it would have been about £4500 for a fast road unit. A racer would be a lot more. what is the spec of the engine = used to watch Nick racing minicross. My late Uncle Rob used to have battles. Had one of the Swift tunes heads and wow did it go.

Anybody know what final drive ratio they use in these Minis?
@rogbrown19652 жыл бұрын
Possibly 3.9/ 4.1 or 4.4.dont know for sure as it was the mid 60s when I had my mini cooper with a 3.7 and 3.44 in my cooper s . Rog.
@hofthem2 жыл бұрын
@@rogbrown1965 The only way I could go fast was with an Austin America engine and trans. (3.65?) Then I had a 998 with 3.44 but 1380'd another A America engine. couldnt afford a 5 speed

@@hofthem 1300 cc I'm guessing. A step up from the Austin 1100.austin America a rare beast these days but they do have a club I hear.cheers. Rog.

@@rogbrown1965 My Mini days started in '73. 850 I drove from San Fransisco to Reno 200 miles each way to Mini Convention. 850 no brakes, wham! Fiberglass front end, Cooper S wheels, Austin Americas were around. 1275.
@rogbrown19652 жыл бұрын
@@hofthem hi Bill asi remember 850 s weren't fast enough to need brakes. Lol. Yeah 1275 cc was classed as a 1300. Likewise 970 s were classed as 1000 cc and 1071s were 1100cc to allow for being bored out to the limit for racing.1973 what a year. Got married still married! Spent a few days in San Francisco and lived between Los Angeles and England between the 90s and 2012.hence the info I have on UK mini coopers but have to confess I'd not heard really much about the Austin America for many years.once a mini fan you're hooked for life and why not. Good motoring. Rog.

Driver of the Blue '59; Mini is an awsomely talentless prick, did you have words with him/her after the race a la James Hunt, would have been justified IMHO.
