Swifty Sharp is a cordless motorized knife sharpener. Watch as we try to sharpen our knives and a cheap pair of scissors.

It's the noise for me too Katy! Fortunately, I have a hubby that takes care of all the sharpening for me. In the garage...away from my ears 😀

Nice demonstration, as usual. I've seen this one but never tried it myself. I mean there WAS improvement so you've gotta give it some credit, right? I do agree with your conclusion that it's probably good for cheap knives. I don't think I'd trust very expensive knives to a $15 As Seen on TV sharpener though!

Freakin' Reviews I have been thinking about reviewing this for awhile but all the reviews were so bad. I think some people have too high expectations for these As Seen on TV products. Definitely would not trust it with expensive knives but for cheap knives it's fine. It was worth the $15. I hope we didn't mess up Rachel's knife. Lol

Always make sure the screw is tight on the stone before you use it and for A bit of a BOOST, get stone or edge of tool wet or even use a bit of honing oil but be sure to wash the blade off with soap before touching it to food again

I guess it's my lot in life to help you two out. You're welcome. There's nothing wrong with using that type of sharpener with cheap knives. I have a more heavy duty one but it works on the same principal. I sharpen my work knife with it but it's a cheap Kershaw. More expensive knives and you should probably use a couple of sharpening stones. I stay stick with what you've got. I would do the old Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor on the sharpener and ditch the batteries for a 3 or 6 volt adapter wired into it. Keep up the videos. I still enjoy them.

Hi again Guys... I am not even going to mention the sound of the machine at work...you know what I am going to say...much too loud. The thing actually worked though. I have a lot of paper punches, and you sharpen them by either cutting sandpaper or aluminum foil...both work. And sandpaper works for sharpening scissors too. And NO NOISE...lol...lol... Luv your vids...they are so relaxing... Though Rachel looked a little hungry...should have given her a drink and a couple of cookies. Thank you again for sharing. Have a fun evening. Surie

Easy way to sharpen scissors: get a sheet of 800 grit,1000 git and 2000 grit sheets of sandpaper. Cut about 4- 5 strips off each sheet\grit. Always brings my Medic shears and regular scissors back to what the were, or at least close, to new.

FYI- You never want to use a grinding tool on a knife blade. For the lack of a better word, it just grates the knife edge. It'll appear a little sharper than a dull knife, but it's not going to do a good job. Also, grinding creates heat, which can affect the temper of the steel on the edge. Always use a good sharpening stone to sharpen with, then maintain your edge with a sharpening steel. Thr steel doesn't actually sharpen, it straightens the burrs on the knife edge. Your knife will cut so much better. Hope this helps you.

For me it's the noise that is horrible you can sharpen scissors by cutting rough sandpaper or for your good scissors Fiskar has a really nice not too expensive sharpener I usually get mine at JoAnn's Fabric and Crafts with a coupon.

FWIW. I could be wrong but if you use this again, you really shouldnt push down. The weight of the blade should be enough, you dont want to push down that hard at all. More expensive ones sharpen and hone. Party trivia, the steel rod you often get in some knife sets is NOT a sharpener it is for honing. It wont actually sharpen a dull knife at all. It helps straighten the fine edge on a sharp knife.
