My wife just bought me a laptop with 8 gigs of RAM. Most I have ever had in a computer was 4 (and that one was returned in favor of it's direct "upgrade".. the one I have now). Even though it suits my needs for writing, playing TOR at 40 fps on mid/high, storing documents (640 gig HD)... I have hardware envy!!! I don't even know wtf I'd use a computer like he's getting for, but it would look awesome in a man-cave.

I agree with nexius and get a watercooling loop. Start simple with a kit like a, xspc rasa 750. it comes with everything you need for a basic loop except the distilled water. Also ur cpu will be HELLA cool

@paaatzh Yes. You can only use either 2 dvi or 1dvi and 1 hdmi at the same time. Then you need to use a display port adapter to get the 3rd one going.

It is a LOT cheaper and works the same except that you cant install it on any other motherboard. So if you wanted to build ANOTHER computer...you couldn't install it again on that motherboard. Swifty, coupla suggestions: If money is not an issue set your sights on an i7 3960x and a ASrock X79 Extreme9. Secondly i would hold off and maybe wait until Nvidia announce their kemplar archtiecture. If you can't go ahead and pick up an hd 7970, or two of them . Yeh and getting a WC loop is a must, if you put all this hardware under water, you could pump out an extra 20% of those babies

And do like nexius says about taking the clips over to the ssd when you edit them, and when you are done you can just take them over to your storage hdd. And dont forget to have your editing program on the ssd too ;) Keep the good work up man, love your videos! And you HAVE to visit Norway soon! You have lots of fans here! :)

Hey swifty! I think you should get these specs for your computer. - New Intel i7 (See if you can get the new Ivy Bridge line of processors.) - Gygabite G1 Assassin Motherboard (super awesome motherboard. Good line, but I'm not sure if it's at the top of that series of motherboards, it might be the sniper or guerrilla I forget I'm sorry.) - Dual 7970s for your graphics cards - 950 watt Power Supply from Corsair (Just to be safe with the new graphics cards, I don't know how much power they pull)
@Krotian12 жыл бұрын
@TheNotoriousJesus the heat is not a problem, we are talking about watercooled VGAs "590 is equal to 2 570s" thats right, but when you use 3 or 4 way SLI, the 3rd and the 4th GPUs are used only for 10 to 35% of their power, because SLI is not efficent yet, so 2-way SLI with 2 double GPU VGAs is more efficent. With 2 free PCI slots you can also use a soundcard (like a titanium X-Fi) and add another VGA for Phsyx (like a 460 gtx...) and have 10% more performances

SSD for your OS and games a normal one for everything else, i recomment Western digital Black Caviar, preferably the 1 TB (this is the normal hard drive) and if you want to use your SSD in a normal hard drive slot (not the graphic card slots which haves insanely good ssds) i'd recommend the red corsair SSD's, personally i'd wait for the Geforce version of the 7000 series of the new graphic cards instead of the ATI ones, just saying. :)

If you watch movies, play games, listen to music, surfing the web - 8GB of Ram is more than enough, even 4GB is enough but RAM is so cheap now so you might aswell take 8GB just to have it. But you benefit from having more ram (like in your case with the 32GB) when you do alot of rendering and editing videos and stuff, that'll help
@Fiftykent12 жыл бұрын
Thing about SSD is that (last time i checked) you can only write to it 10.000 times. It's a whole different progress when it comes to writing down information. That's why you get SSD for stuffs like programs and your system but still leaves some space. If you'd for example had everything on SSD you'd use it up in no-time. I'd also recommend the newer generation of i5 aslong as you wont use HT.

Swifty the thing with 2011 socket you can set it up to be able to utilize all your ram. So if you have 32gb of ram you will only use like 4-8gb max. With windows and settings in your bios you can allocate fast caching to all of your other programs to use all 32 gb or close to all 32 gb. As for SSD's you want a intel 510 these are the most reliable on the market. Trust me A+ certified tech here.
@wisolf12 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what your budget is but there are certain companies you wanna go with. For instance if you get nvidia go with EVGA they have the best warranties, your graphics cards start overheating like yours have been they will send you a new one before you send your old one back so you have little to no down time, same goes for XFX for AMD they have the same deal. You dont need more then 16 Gb of RAM but since its so cheap right now go for 32 by all means. Best of luck man, keep up the vids
@IxPookyxI12 жыл бұрын
Go with a 2600k if you need the extra threads, otherwise go with the 2500k. You don't need more than 16GB of RAM, and yeah the SSD is a good idea. Then go with a decent CPU cooler and get some good overclocks on it. Also, wait for AMD's 7000 series to come out and go with some 7950s or 7970s (They come out Jan. 9th)
@Dhampire66612 жыл бұрын

@thisisatestguy12 жыл бұрын
Try using a PCI-e SSD, they are a bit more expensive but can hold just as much. They are also faster and smarter, some corsair cards can track your most frequently used programs to put on your SSD so those programs will run faster than less used ones. And @ShorTyyHD is right 16gbs should do you justice, any higher is over-kill.

You could also just replace your stock VGA cooling with the Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro. Around $40 each . Then get some better/more case fans and perhaps and aftermarket cooler for you CPU you could then overclock it to tide you over until you really do need a performance replacement. As for CPU cooling it will depend on the space available to you. Noctua NH-D14 really is the best aftermarket CPU cooler and I think you had a Coolermaster case? One of the HAF series? It should fit.
@Razargh12 жыл бұрын
@1k2ka i agree, but there is no price incentive here so i just thought of some of the best components off the top of my head, if it was me... i would wait for Ivy and the GTX600 series and also RAM is so cheap 16GB is fine, personally the stuff they were looking at wanted me to just slap swifty through the screen. As for 7990 yes they will be the best for a while but i dont think they even exist yet?
@ComputerArea11 жыл бұрын
Don't forget your network cards, prefer to use dual lan ports for better consistency of less dropped packets and lag due to dispersing the connection onto two lanes, instead of one. The power of dedicated network cards. This is important for those who multitask with games, streams and browse all at the same time, network cards are cheap, don't strain your MOBO's ether performance.
@Setterberg32112 жыл бұрын
If you are going to have 4 graphic cards, remember to get a motherboard that has 4x PCI express slots in x16 mode! If you are having one graphics card in a x16 mode slot, and one in a x8 slot, it will only slow the primary graphics card down, as the x8 slot card will communicate slower with the rest of your computer. 2 cards in two x16 mode PCI slots is more than enough. Getting 2 SSDs in a raid setup will be your best option for hard drives for OS and games
@DankBeard1912 жыл бұрын
I agree with this mostly depends what games you want to play really though. If you only play wow then go ahead its not extremely demanding however if you want all the top notch games go with a desktop

Since you said you wanted to edit, stream, and play at the same time the most RAM you can get would always be the best. People usually say that 16gb is perfect for editing but you also want to do gaming/streaming so I'd suggest the 32gb. Also make sure you get DDR5 RAM not DDR3. The higher the number after DDR[x] the faster the ram processes information.
@OLiVIEIRR12 жыл бұрын
SSD is for OS, I have a SSD with my OS on it and I boot super fast. I only have a 60gb one though so I can't store many games on it but if you get a larger one stick all games on it and you'll get some super fast loading times!

It depends on your motherboard on how much RAM you should get. If you get a board with 4 RAM slots, you're better off getting four faster 4G sticks, rather than slower 8G sticks. 16G is a great amount of RAM. SWTOR recommends 4G of RAM total. Faster sticks is better than larger sticks for gaming.

Most people don't realize the performance issue is not the ram, it's the issue of matching the CPU speed capability's with the storage speed capability. Never use your main operating system hard drive for movie files, music or large data. To further more eliminate the multiple directional data reading that strains drives, run the OS on raid to further the data reading speed of the mass data storage drives.

Anything more than 8gb of ram is only necessary if you do editing.The more RAM you get the better editing will be for you. That's really the only application that uses a lot RAM. Although I do not know much about livestreaming resource consumption. Also, don't be afraid to look at AMD processors. They are cheaper, and in many cases, just as good as INTEL.

I would wait untill the HD Radeon 7970 is released if possible and run them in CF, the rest is like everyone else says, the i7 2600k with a better coolingsystem. 16GB 20000MHz ram. A huge SSD is also a must!
@sgrav3n12 жыл бұрын
getting 2x590 is overkill, and they scale badly, getting 3x580(3gb) would be better, or 7970 if thats what you want. Also get 1-2xSSDs for your maindrive it will change your life, and get a NAS for your storage and backup(synology) that will change your life aswell :)
@Mattamaza12 жыл бұрын
@paaatzh Yea dude, you see if you are using the HDMI output then that takes the signal from one of the DVI's and so you can only have the two displays. A display port adapter will do the same thing. Make sure you get an Active display port adapter as this doesn't cut out the signal from a DVI output and as a result lets you extend the desktop both ways thus running three monitors. Also once your desktop is extended you can go eyefinity if you wish!

The benefits of buying a complete system from a Respected Vendor is Warranty Service. Not to mention that there are some amazing deals around. Also testing will have been done to make sure of compatibility of all components in the system. Have you bothered to check this avenue to see what is available. Not to be rude(plz don't take it that way) but your friends and you know next to nothing about Computers. Otherwise you could easily diagnose what is wrong with your current system.
@Brandonp9512 жыл бұрын
You don't need more than 8GB of RAM. You just need fast RAM. You also don't need more than 480GB for your SSD. It would be a waste of money after that. Also, make SURE you get Liquid Cooling that cools your RAM and GPU, along with your CPU (obviously). Some only cool the CPU, and this will cause your GPU and RAM to overheat with any load on your computer, especially with Live streaming.
