Swimming With MANTARAYS At Mantaray Passage In FIJI!

In the Yasawa Island group in Fiji lies Drawaqa Island. Between this island and the next is a shallow channel known as Mantaray Passage. Both of us have been coming here for nearly ten years to see the mantarays (even before we knew each other). The rays visit to the passage on the turn of the tide to feed on plankton, between May and October. We were lucky enough to have 7-10 to swim with for over an hour. Our hearts are happy!

I spent a month on Drawaqa Island doing an environmental science survey on microplastics and I never got a chance to see the mantas. I'm jealous!
