Why won’t people just admit that they don’t have the money to pay for whatever they’re being sued for? When this happens the defendant should have just said to the plaintiff: “I’m sorry about your car but if I had the money to pay for the repair I wouldn’t be here getting a free refrigerator from a stranger”. I think the plaintiff would have understood that and she would be willing to work something out.
@jenniferponsart77802 жыл бұрын
He didn't think he was in the wrong, at all. He wouldn't even take the cheaper estimate. He saw the scratch and dent on the car when it happened, yet he wanted proof that it happened in the pictures. He was 100% responsible for the damages and made excuse after excuse even though he received two free $$$ ticket items. Where's his gratitude? He has none. Even in his hallway statement, he either knew beforehand that he was at fault or he's feeling like he's the victim of prejudice when he said, "I knew it was going her way." This is why so many good people stop doing good things for strangers when they really need help.
@lynne7092 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferponsart7780 Let’s not act like the plaintiff was doing some charitable act here. She wanted to get rid of the refrigerator, she probably couldn’t sell it due to its age or quality so she posted an ad online giving it away for free. If no one responded to her ad she episodes have had to dispose of the refrigerator some other way. It was a win win for both people involved. My point was that the defendant was probably so defensive because he didn’t have the money to pay for the damage to the car. That’s my point.
@riggamorrischan2 жыл бұрын
Well let’s not assume he’s taking the refrigerator because he has no money. But I do agree that if he was more honest and just said “hey, that’s a lot of money and I don’t have that right now. can we work out some payment plan?” maybe things would’ve went differently
@lynne7092 жыл бұрын
@@riggamorrischan I didn’t say he doesn’t have any money. I said he doesn’t have enough money to buy a refrigerator. Refrigerators are expensive and you wouldn’t take the risk of taking a free refrigerator from a stranger if you could afford to buy a new one or even a used one yourself. It’s true that some people just like free stuff but even those people know that there are some items that are worth paying the money and appliances are one of those things.

I would have moved my car or had it moved to th3 end of the driveway. He is totally at fault.

He just showed how selfish he is. Everyone owes him . And he looked stupid.

I disagree..he didn't want to get taken advantage of but pay a reasonable price. There were blynders in both sides..she should of moved the cars, or kids could help, or he put it on dolly correctly so door didn't swing open, or secure it, or not be so macho, and ask for help. They both contributed to the problem IMO, so could both share in the blame and cost.

The fridge was free, he wanted to save money by not bringing someone to help him. Well, those "free" appliances costs him 500.00, still cheaper than if he had to buy them, I guess. As my older folks used to say, "the cheapest becomes the dearest"

It was free until he hit that car. Then he bought a fridge.
